Mods in fleet ships

Now you can send ships with Mods to fleet, do those ships benefit from the mods in battle?

Presumably the answer is similar for cannons.  I had carronades in one of the fleet ships, but under AI control, it just looked like long or medium cannon were firing.  Is that true?

Even if mods or canon don't help, it's handy being able to put *any* ship into a fleet.
