awesome24712 Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Now this is just frustrating me. My battles never seem to stop. I just got this game yesterday. I understand there's a counter of sorts on time on the top - but every single time the battle is delayed and I just roles over to a red counter. In the first battle, as confederates I could run the Yankees all the way back to Washington, with them out of the town, with just one enemy brigade isolated in the corner of the map under infantry and artillery fire. The red bar completely filled. And then the enemy mounts an assault from outside the map, through which I could not direct defenses. Also, how is it that my guys will retreat all the way off the map and not come back while the AI manages to organize an assault from outside the map even after they've retreated? And anyways, under what specific conditions does the counter decide to stop?
Husserl Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Hi awesome and welcome to our community! If there is an effort for capturing a strategic point or certain actions like charges when the battle time is over (full green bar) it will be delayed. You can manipulate up to a point the delay by avoiding or pursuing just engagements to extend or expire it. The units entering the map during battles are reinforcements (the game uses the historical way that the armies approached the battlefield). Units that lose more than 60% of their manpower, the next time that will retreat, will be permanently withdrawn. These units won't be available for the rest of the battle and the current campaign.
