Mighty_Alex Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I like the new ships (Indefatigable and Endymion), but I was quite disappointed when I first saw them in the game. Especially Indefatigable. (Can't say that Endymion is rich with detail too.) While the model itself is high quality, it severely lacks detail. She is such an iconic ship but in the game she just looks.. generic. No stern or bow decorations at all. It's just such a contrast compared to some previous, beautiful and very detailed ships. There are a few wooden models that could have been used as reference, such as this one for example: http://www.ageofsail.net/indefatigable6.asp
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Well, that is true. Still hoping for a redress of the Constitution and all the original Trials models up to Santa Cecilia standards. Note: watchout for FPS optimization. 1
maturin Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 You just posted a screenshot of the game's MOST detailed ship model, FFS. This rendition just doesn't have an ornate stern. 2
pietjenoob Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 I want to remind you this is i believe these are the first cummunity made ships that came into the game so yes they are not on par with a pro-team but it is still qiuet impressive feat that you can make so far. Despite it lacks some details it is still a very nice ship.
Mirones Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Bellona got patched a couple times before she looks as she is now around 5-7 decorations take long time and will allways come later.

The Indy model simply represents the ship with less ornate scrollwork on the beakhead and stern. I don't know if the plainer look is historical or not, but it is entirely plausible, given the ship's long service life. Maybe the modeller didn't have the expertise to do complex artistic texture work. But the model is certainly not sub-par. 1
The MetaBaron Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 Ever think that maybe with the paint system that is still in the works, there is a chance that decorations maybe part of that system? I was thinking this as well, or how we have been told we may have the opportunity to name ships as well. 1
Nym Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 The Endymion is missing Gunport Hatches! It looks super silly without them. Please fix!

It's true all models done in 2016 are a lot better than the ones we did before. We are learning and it shows. I would like to add that the modeler only made the hull and huge amount of work on every model is still done in house - he was a part of a team, it was absolutely not a solo effort. In fact 80% of man hours is the lods, damage systems, deck detail and the rigging and that is only done in house.. You just posted a screenshot of the game's MOST detailed ship model, FFS. pietjenoob Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Well u devs did a very good job of the rigging of the Endymoin, the detail in that part is fantastic. I have seen a few sail ships but not this one with so many ropes and block, jesus. Well done and i always appriciate if modellers are going more for the nit-picking details.
Pada Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 If one ship ingame needs a rework, it's the Constitution.
Batman Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 note to self, some customers ignore pure wonders in details on deck and rig and only notice decorated ass stern I absolutely love the full rigging on both of the ships! Are you maybe planning on adding a full set of riggin to some of you newer models like the Bucentaure, too?

The Santa Cecilia, for example, is a pleasure to look at. Can almost 'touch' and feel the model.
