Cerebus Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Is there any? I've noticed that enemy cannon fire was doing horrendous damage to my unit but none to the enemy unit that they were engaged with. Surely with units in close combat artillery fire will hit both? Or did I miss something? 1
Nick Thomadis Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Yes there is friendly fire. Usually units hold their fire automatically if there is too much friendly fire block. But they can still fire and cause some friendly casualties in the heat of the battle. To cause only to friendlies damage it sounds like something very rare or other cause. Maybe they received fire from a distant enemy.
Cerebus Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 Even though, any two units engaged in melee should receive a fairly equal proportion of damage from any incoming fire wouldn't you think? My unit dropped like a stone and the enemy didn't lose a man! I'll run some experiments in a future game and let you know the outcome.
Subutai Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 Yes I have noticed this as well. Especially in situations where artillery fires canister into a melee mothball, it seems the damage is particularly biased towards the enemy.
Riekopo Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 It's not clear to me when friendly fire is taking place. The game should tell us when a unit is under friendly fire.
RichardMcCor Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 In some cases we also see split fire among multiple units which is very good. Its not clear when this happens but i see situations where one brigade fires at another and the ARTY units next to it also get hit.
