Resetting officers perks not free

I've noticed that resetting officers perks is not exactly "free".  Every time I've reset my officers perks I've lost all the officers XP toward the next rank. Just now I reset my officer, she's at rank 9 with 750/2500 to next rank. After resetting she's still at rank 9 with 0/2500 to next rank. I've wasted several thousand XP points for my officer "testing" different perks.  Any Devs want to address this?

I dont think this will be changed.

Normally the cost would be 3 points + the xp you accumilated, nowadays due to changes to the perk they decided to remove the 3 points cost.

Consolidate your last point, afterwards you will not face this problem for a long time.

Yeah, don't reset your officer while still leveling him up.

What you think reseting the officer would do?  Every game I been on that lets you reset your level starts you back at the start of that level not mid way through it.    If you don't want to loose XP than don't reset it right before you rank up.   Like said it use to cost three levels to reset your officer.

  

I'm hoping for them to make the officers tied to each ship so you don't have to reset them for diffrent ships and than have a shore officer for each outpost where you have buildings.  Or maybe just one in charge of your land affairs.

i swap perks all the time, ex: crafting setup, pve combat setup, pvp setup, even have to reset perks when ima buy new crew since there is a price discount perk for that
