Sella Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Maybe the fortification research will come in to play? http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15285-fortification-researchcollection-project/ 3
Anolytic Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Wow. Nice! The next patch is going to be 'yuge. The delay is totally justified, although I'm really struggling with waiting. 5
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 My imagination just went riot regarding the use of this things in game.... 4
Fluffy Fishy Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) Those forts are pretty nice looking, I can't wait to see the fortifications of capitals like the fort at KPR or Better yet we might one day see the fortifications at Candia in Crete Edited October 3, 2016 by Fluffy Fishy
Jack Brennan Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 That looks really cool. Will be fun to see them live.

admin Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Is the idea that these fortifications would take the place of the isolated towers used now in Port Battles? ~HK~ not this patch but next one definitely this time they will only be in the OW battles and potentially missions (not sure about missions yet as they might make missions too easy) 9
SheepDip Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 It would be nice to see Admiralty Order Missions with difficulty like 152 , 186 , 200 and the like
3rdguards Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Forts in general i think will be a great addition, and I think its good to start out with them just in OW combat at first, will allow us to get some exposure to them outside of PBs and see how they will interact. Can't wait to see them inaction, or maybe get sunk by them. heck i may get into trouble in front of an enemy captial just to see their forts work 1
Jeheil Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The game is going to really change alot in the next couple of patches, biggest leaps since OW, very much looking forward to this...can't but have to wait...like being 7 again leading up to Christmas 2
The Spud Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Does anybody know if every port will have these fortifications, or will they only be in ports that historicaly used to have these (or did they all have fortifications?). I'm very curious to see these function!

The Spud Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Dont know what it will be, but historically not every port had forts. Mind you, most did though. It might bring more strategic value to some ports, probably in some situations (PB wise) the geography of the location in combination with the fortresses will make it extra hard to take the place. Imagine a port located like Saint Nic, where there is a long narrow approach to the port. The oponent could stick close to the port and to the fortresses, not all enemy ships could line up to broadside. So it will realy be interesting to see what this will bring and what new tactics will be invented to deal with fortresses and geographical situations. I think the land in PB's will be the thing bringing most players back.
Jean LaPointe Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 There have been, historically, numbers of small batteries protected by earthworks in many locations. They could be found near stone forts or by themselves protecting small inlets. There are many reminiscence of this kind of battery along the Mississippi around New Orleans. While there may not be a fort, there could be a large number of smaller batteries protecting a town. Just a thought to make a port and interesting mix.
Archaos Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 It would be nice if the forts automatically dragged enemy players into battle if they sailed too close, (maybe after a warning that they were getting in range) and allied players could join the battle while the enemy was in range of the forts. 1
