Garetx Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Just a shot question... First rates with planking yes or no ? or is the amount of extra thickness of planking to low? someone got any information about the amount of thickness added by planking?
admin Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Just a shot question... Better planking = less structural leaks.
Garetx Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 planking quality determines how much structural leaks the ship will have when heavily damaged. Better planking = less structural leaks. so Planking does not increase side armor thicknes?
Garetx Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 (edited) Planking or Build Strengh are valid options for SoL. No. Only the type of woods change thickness. ok can u explain me why my vic hass better thicknes then my friends santi same wood type does maybe stiftness and speed make the difference? Inmy oppinnion in this game are way to less tooltip with a good explanation of such stuff u see in auction house all first rates have 75 thickness in dock different story... Baptiste Gallouédec Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 And do extra planking upgrade add thickness ?
Smithy Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 UI of ship info are generally pretty messed up. i was convinced stiffness was not even applied as it wasnt showing in most tooltips for ship unless in the ship and viewing info of ship from dock
themule08 Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 actually I don't believe that is true at all! I have stiffness on a teak surprise..and the thickness is the same as an Oak or live oak. I have not found a way to increase thickness of a ship.. If there is please let me know, because this is what I am looking for as an alternative to just tanking HP. From my experience in the last few days making ships..there is nothing to increase the thickness of a ship since teak does nothing anymore. Teak is a rather useless material right now in the game.. since does nothing other than neutral, but oak gives no debuff, but extra HP. Extra planking doesnt add thickness, only hp.Stiffness adds +2 thickness and +5% mast hp. Make a ship today with stiffness and post pictures please.. Compared to regular stats for stock ship thickness, I have not seen an increase.

Compared to regular stats for stock ship thickness, I have not seen an increase. This is a problem with the UI, not the crafting. From what I have found, the increased thickness only shows in the "combat specs" (and maybe the equipment screen, haven't double checked there) but it does NOT show in the ship tooltip like the other specs. Not sure why, but you can't use the tooltips to compare thickness.
Sir Texas Sir Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 I have two gold santisimas. One with speed and another with stiffness. The first one says (in EQUIPMENT window) 82 thickness and the other has 84. And I believe the old ships with thickness (ones not crafted with a name tag of who crafted) don't have this added thickness so you might need to compare two new ships. As for the question why the thickness of the Vick and Santi are different? Well it's cause they aren't the same ship. Some ships of same class have different pro and cons. Think I saw a post that said the UI is on an older version and that data wasn't added to it yet so it's not showing but they plan to add the fix soon. Remember the UI is a place holder for the games actuall UI when released so it is a bit crude per say.

Remember the UI is a place holder for the games actuall UI when released so it is a bit crude per say. That makes sense why the tooltips aren't working but the other data sources are. I can see that kind of data getting out of sync, especially since this is a temp UI and I'm sure they are focused on getting the "final" UI ready.
Cecil Selous Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 (edited) It's rather new that stiffness adds armor thickness, so old ships crafted before the change won't profit from it as far as I know. Edited September 5, 2016 by Cecil Selous
Cecil Selous Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Then it looks like I have to eat my words.
themule08 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 The equipment window does show added thickness.. surprise with teak and stiffness was +5 in equipment window just no highlighted in port. Which brings us to the next question.. which ship is actually on the sae..lol
