Kaaru62 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 what if we change the way the social perk works. right now the person with the perk has the battle stay open and anyone can join. this makes it so you have to carry the perk if you want protection and raiders have to wonder what target has it and who doesnt. my idea is to have the person with the perk have the ability to join any battle, no matter how long it has been. to add difficulty and uncertainty to the perk, you go ahead and let the swords disappear as they do now, but keep the battle audio. the join circle should be very small making the joiner search for the invisible entrance. once the entrance is found the information/join windows pops up and you are able to join. by having audio only it makes it difficult to find a battle, you have to stumble upon it. i think it would give a cops and robbers feel to the perk

I still dont like the perk but at least tjis way the gankers all have to spend permanent points to 10vs1 a guy for maybe 20 xp lol
Jean LaPointe Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Good, I can have yours then? No, you can't have, but you can buy and it's going to cost you a lot.
Smithy Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 I ask that we get ample warning of the officer reset being returned to taking levels on a reset so that i can reconfigure officer to how I had it, since its been chopped and changed a lot with free resets. 1
Skippy Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 (edited) I want a first rate for the pirates, NAOW! Edited September 14, 2016 by Skippy
Challenge Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Name more than one or two pirates who sailed 1st rates in RL.
Mrdoomed Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Name more than one or two pirates who sailed 1st rates in RL. Name any nation that had more than 1 USS Constitution during the age of sail. 1
Skippy Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Name more than one or two pirates who sailed 1st rates in RL. Can't you see this was a joke? lol
EL LOCO Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 So what is a social jerk gonna do without his perk? We were having fun and I called it the Habana Social Club. All Invited.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Name more than one or two pirates who sailed 1st rates in RL. Count the amount of Rear Admirals in RL. Oh, and how many Captains sailed sloops and brigs their entire career.
Fenris Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Well this is probably an important step into the right direction.Making 1st Rates VERY expensive, and hopefully VERY rare, is more historically accurate indeed, and will force all nations to keep an eye open on important regions, which provide goods for making those ships. And hopefully we will not see players sailing their redeemable ships(Bucentaure),after reaching mid level ranks 1st Rates should be jewels in the crown of each nation, watching those 25vs25 1st Rate port battles is well, ridiculous, making those ships in long terms worthless. Social perk as such, with 30 min timer was not a good idea, but i am still convinced that traders desperately need a tool, which allows them to call for help,if sailing in friendly waters and suddenly getting attacked by "ganking" fleet. It is not enough to say"dont sail alone"(most traders dont),AI fleets are often useless, and those who are willing to provide help to traders, are often far away,or not able to join the battle,(exceptions prove the rule). So there should be some kind of ESCORT MISSION along the missions, which could motivate players to protect the traders, which are sailing along the friendly waters(ONLY) I think that would improve the coop among the players, attackers AND defenders. To compensate those players who are not willing to give "ganking" up, a PORT RAID MISSION would also(well in my opinion) be a sort of compensation.Players of each nation can not be everywhere at the same time, and lot of ports are just player empty.Taking loot from an empty port without significant defense, isnt hard. But running away with all that goods is something different, not knowing where the humiliated, angry, looted enemy would be........ Thank you. 3
maturin Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Count the amount of Rear Admirals in RL. Oh, and how many Captains sailed sloops and brigs their entire career. None, in the Royal Navy. Since they would have to be Lieutenants, and not Captains.
kaneguy Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I also would like to be able to escort my own trader, where the trader can be loaded with cargo but is the AI ship and the escort is the player controlled ship. Since SOL were not normally assigned to escort duties limit the escorts to 3rd ot 4th rates. 3
Gysendorf Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Name any nation that had more than 1 USS Constitution during the age of sail. Easy USA, they had three 44 Frigates, USS Constitution, USS President and USS United States
Jean LaPointe Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) Name any nation that had more than 1 USS Constitution during the age of sail. The United States had three in that class;USS Constitution USS President USS United States That should answer your question. Oops I didn't see the post above me, LOL Edited October 2, 2016 by Jean LaPointe

Oops I didn't see the post above me, LOL But only one was the constitution. That was my point. Was referring to the name not class.
Jean LaPointe Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) But only one was the constitution. That was my point. Was referring to the name not class.LOLNo navy ever had two commissioned ships with the same name at the same time. Although I would like to see a way for us to customize the names of our ships from what existed in the class they are from. Hull colors along with names being a choice would bring a vast amount of individuality and variety to the game. Edited October 2, 2016 by Jean LaPointe 1

And yes i would love to name my ship or have a random name picker. 1
Lisa-Azra Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 (edited) Specific resources, only found at specific ports to build 1st rates and possibly 2nd rates, really! Have you all forgotten what happened when the game was release on Steam and the flood of new players. 'We can't build as there is not enough iron ore' - increase iron production effecting economy parameters then 'We can't build as there are not enough oak logs, hemp, silver' - increase resource production = economy screwed then add the hoarders and resale at 500% price increases. This is what you want the game to return to? Please think again As for the many posts on everyone having 1st rates well the game has been designed on a pyramid progression and trying to limit that now with restricted numbers/resources is closing the stable door when it is already empty. Inhibiting people having a Victory or whatever will eventually result in loss of player population. Whereas, an idea maybe to limit the number of ships a player can have. This may go someway to giving a more balanced navy, 1 warship, 1 trader per player combined with a variety of missions, objectives to meet the different strengths of each ship or class of ships. Lisa Swims with Sharks Any new or restarted economy will take a short time to balance out. Unless people purposely try and fail the art of supply and demand will almost immediately kick in. Hopefully with a fresh asset wipe and reboot it will help to balance the amount of sols in the carrebean as well. Plus no matter what shortages there are the ai trade ships are a constant flow of resorces. I would be patient for a while.

Who wants to sit in a trader while watching an AI character defend you? Blech! My guess would be because the person defending would just click retreat on transport ship them charge with his warship long enough for his tradrr tongrt away. You would literally never be able to capture a trade ship again.
