Incase anyone cares i still won http://imgur.com/A7FdwXS http://imgur.com/ozL5a64 Edited August 31, 2016 by Sgt.Barnes 1
Sgt.Barnes Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) I have seen it once, but it was due to the perfect hit. I was involved in a fight in my Ronemmee and a friendly Santisma got the perfect shot off on a NPC Connie. He hit him with about 80-90% of the shots fired in the stern on a stern raking. The Connie lit up and about 30sec later exploded. well this was from maybe a dozen out of a full broadside that actually hit. to my side, not a rake... Edited August 31, 2016 by Sgt.Barnes 1
William Death Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Yeah I was the other guy in the duel. I fired a broadside squarely into his starboard side. I registered around 32 hull hits, fire, and maybe crew or cannon or something like that. I paid no attention to the fire, as I did not expect him to blow up... I got ahead of him, and slowed down to maneuver to his other side. My stern gallery was less than a 1/4 shiplength from his bowsprit. I noticed the fireshock and tried to run, but it was too late. His ship blew up and he was reduced to around 300 crew, and I went from more than 650 (extra hammocks) to around 350. I lost most of my masts, and I lost many cannons. I have seen explosions before, but I had never seen ships this close together have crews survive the explosion. Also, first post on the forums! But I do check them almost daily and I enjoy watching this awesome game develop.
SteelSandwich Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I wonder if explosion time is linked to the distance of the powder magazine... Im not sure, but it could explain why it blew so fast. 2
maturin Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Fire has to reach the powder magazine for an explosion to occur. 1

I'm not familiar with the placement of any of the magazines aboard these ships, however as you can notice in one of the pictures I linked, the fire occurred near the front of the vessel 2
William Death Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Not sure if it helps or not (probably not since I can't remember for sure ) but I *think* I had double charge loaded on that side of my Bellona. I know I did in the opening broadsides, but I can't remember exactly when I ran out. It seems like I ran out right after I fired that last broadside (the one that caused the fire). Also congrats on the win! I think that fire helped you more than me! Nah, just kidding, you fought better than I did (plus I like my other [build strength] Bellona better).
Capt Hornblower Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 ma, ma, ma, ma, my Bellona rarely catches fire, perhaps due to gold xtra planking
Fuzzyhead12 Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 The magazin is usualy lockated in the area of the Bow storeroom, and that can bring a belona down very fast aperently, maybe the magazin is not under the waterline or something like that.
