victor Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Since (in September) there will be a wipe in the ports that will reduce the ports in which we can have an outpost and (in October) also a change in some free ports, I think a lot of people will have the need to relocate its ships some times after the wipe, I thought it could be a good Idea setting a drydock in each capital city, like it was in POTBS. You can still have only 5 ships viable to sail in the port, but in the capital you can store up to (let's say) 20 ships in the drydock, from which you can take a ship only if in the capital city you have one slot free in the capital city port. Who would like to support this feature can post hereunder. 5
Haratik Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Not a bad feature from PotBS, I'm just not sure if it's viable in this game.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 I am not mistaken when I say one of the aims of the world is to promote captains to move away from the capital waters. I'd do the opposite. 1 ship at capital, 3 at ports, 6 at regional capitals.

Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 You are mistaken indeed. This is just your personal wish based on your way of playing. True that. I was thinking of after the wipe, to promote moving the "naval bases" out of the Capital and towards the different conquered regions. 1
CubanB Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I like what the OP and Hethwill suggest. I am on board with either.

With the Region Conquest your time is only rewarded if you create hostility in a region that actually requires it, which is seldomly the Capital region.Especially for the October port reset a limited drydock would make sense, but once it is full the next time it will add the problems. As a work-around you can put up your ship for sale, but it has to be a full dura. Plus some bugger might buy your ship. How about an unlimited payed drydock in which you pay a one-time parking fee of 5% or 10% of ship value? (Although this would suffer from being a technical resource leak by design.)
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 For 5% - 10% it might better, per slot used, be a maintenance regular pay each X days. It would remove the slot limitation but put some pressure on the shipwright "companies" and on the "flag squadrons". 1

Skully Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Agreed. Guess it all bogs down to "hug the capital" then. Shame. I see it more as an emergency storage, with the Region Conquest there is little to do around a Capital until it actually comes under threat. Low-level players will however hug the capital until they are ready to see the world. 1

I know I personally didn't stick around the capital my first hours in the game. Newbies need to be forced out of comfort zones and made to see the rest of the world. We don't need more dock humping like the old PotBS days. Edited August 29, 2016 by Haratik 1
Rebel Witch Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 the capital should be able to house a lot more ships than currently allowed. especially with the current game mechanic where a nation can be wiped out to one port, talk about completely ruining a players options.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 For the upcoming wipe sure. After that you better fight so it doesn't happen.
