Fry Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Okay, so recently I've only had 1 gripe with this game and its the fact that there is no compass when you open the god damn map???!!! All we need is a little compass in one of the corners of your screen to make navigating so much better, easier and realistic. Now I am new to the game so I don't know if there is an option to get a compass somehow but I am yet to find it. Just some feedback on this idea would be great, thanks.
LeBoiteux Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 No option to get a compass on the map as far as now. Not needed. Open the map (M) Locate yourself Locate your destination Infer a direction (e.g. North-West) Close your map (M) Head in that direction (NW) with your OW compass
Eishen Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I find this app of much use, even with the position displayed http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/12205-compass-map-overlay/

Fry Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 (edited) The top is NORTH the right side is EAST the bottom is SOUTH the left is WEST. Your Welcome. Wow jeez thanks I didn't realize! Thank god you said that or I never would've known. But see, I was talking about a compass for more accurate bearings. Also did you know: The top right is North-East The bottom right is South-East The bottom left is South-West The top left is North-West Now that is a lot of information to take in so don't get overwhelmed. You're Welcome. Edited August 23, 2016 by Fry
Prater Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Shameful self plug: http://namap.neocities.org/ Ugly but effective. The compass takes about 10 seconds to load after you place it. Ex: Place compass at Port Morant. I want to go to Sandy Bay. 1 point N of SW (I think technically this would be W by SW). Roughly 900 KM if you count the circles. If you know the average speed of your ship through all 24 points of the wind, you can give rough estimates on time. Example. The Lynx used to be 15.3 (I don't know what it is currently, I think it is faster now). So 900/15.3=58.8 with the Old Lynx. The trip should take roughly an hour if I go in a straight line and nothing interrupts me. This is a very rough estimate. I really need to update that map. My current version is a lot more complete and is only missing some of the gulf ports. tdamap.com had a compass as well. It appears to be offline though. I am not sure what has happened to it.

Wow that is a beautiful map, this would definitely be useful for longer hauls, thanks for sharing!
