Lockness Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Given that battles take a while already I personally find that the ability to repair a ship during battle makes it unbalanced. I agree that sail repair during battle is a good thing, but having to fight a near new ship at times when you've almost sunk them is a pain. I have loaded up on all the repair perks once and still didn't seem to get the same amount of repair as other players that I have fought against. Last PvP I did I had the player down to a slither of armour both right side and rear, they popped a repair and increased those areas by a good 25 to 30% which is greater than the 10 to 15% I ever seem to get. Not sure if anyone else thinks this way, but I would like to see the ability to Ship repair decreased or taken out completely from the game. Rebuilding the side of a ship mid battle seems a little odd, but that's only my opinion on this matter. 1
Guest Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 (edited) I also dislike the possibility of repairing during a PvP battle. Stopping leaks to a certain amount by using pumps is okay and historical correct. But hull repair should be possible only in OW or inside port. Edited August 22, 2016 by Guest

Kaaru62 Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 we have had repairs at both extremes. back in sea trials, you had 3 repairs to use between hull, sail, and rudder/pump. if you used them all on hull you could just about replace your ship. people got used to it and didn't complain very much. one day the devs tried a "Wacky Patch" and remover repairs all together and everyone liked it so we kept it for ahwile. now with perks we are sort of halfway in the middle. i say we give it time and see what happens
admin Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 repairs are much smaller than they were before. long ago you had 3 repairs and could fix 100% of your hull now with buffs this number is much smaller. 2
312_JS Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I tend to agree, if I'm not taking on water at the moment.
Fargo Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 I think repairs often protract battles unnecessarily, because its so hard to focus down ships. Sometimes you loose large amounts of hp when you have to stay next to enemy ships, waiting for repairs to finish. In port battles ships get seperated and destroyed, minutes later they fight again with about 30% hp (And suddenly they sail very defensive). Repairs could be desabled once your side armour got destroyed completely, to reward good players/fleets, speed up battles, and make repairs more tactical. Repairs should stay, but it should be a risk to repair close to enemy ships. Taking damage could also reduce the amount of restored hp significantly, or damage to crew could increase while repairing. 2
WhoopAss_McGue Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 or damage to crew could increase while repairing. This, combined with repairs taking crew away from fighting, would make repairing a tricky thing to use correctly. I like it.
William Livingston Alden Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Meanwhile and it doesnt matter if you can repair or not, the gameplay is like driving tanks on a battlefield like WOT and the ability to shoot someone in the back of his ship. All you need at the moment is a fast ship with a good turn rate - so if you can repair or not is complete useless - a good broadside duel is oh wonder dead in this game. But i would tend to no repair kits and slower and bigger turnrates for ship even with manually sail.

Frigates and brigs where not made just to be target practice. The evolved into these things called fleets. If you are willing to sail your sol solo with no escort then im willing to take it from you but on the other hand if you have even a s brig with you then i have to leave you alone. Problem is.....the gamer who feels epeened so much much that he must use the biggest ship alive.
BadBenny Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I agree with op, sick of almost having to kill ships twice 1
