Hi,

I have been thinking about Port Battles, and the general lack of response to call to arms from a lot of players.

They say that PBs are boring and irrelevant.

If ports were controlled by the clan who pulled the flag on them, granting that clan some benefits, such as cheaper resources, a clan ship storing facility, cheaper Crew, access to the clan warehouse etc, it might stir more interest in attack and defence.

Obviously, to make sure that the clan has to defend the port, if it is taken by the enemy, the victors would gain a percentage of any stored goods and ships in that port.

This would stop the taking of ports just to boost the Clans influence, if you do not defend, you will lose part of your clan holdings.

If pirates attack the port, a slightly higher percentage of booty would be taken from the port, unles they cap the port, when the normal rules would apply.

I would be interested to hear what people think of ideas on these lines.

Have fun on the seas, and may the wind always be in your sails.

Port Ownership should go to the Town Council. Currently this is made up of the Lord Protector, after the Lords patch it is made up of the 25 players doing the PB.

Then we might have all sort of Town Council mechanics:

1. Bribe a Council. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15241-buy-a-port-bribe-a-lord/

2. Booting a Council. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15651-pirate-free-port-feature-tweek-to-help-game-conquest/?p=292392

3. Controlling access to that Port & rolling into independence. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15897-overrule-high-council-decisions-new-alliance-patch/?p=298891

4. Setting tax rates. http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/15595-player-buy-contracts-under-cost-of-production-at-selling-ports/?p=300388

If a Council wants it, they can set up their own Free Port. :)
