Destraex Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 The chests were gone in a flash. A lot of people including myself missed them after over an hours sailing. Fair enough. But it did leave a lot of people dissappointed. I would just make the suggestion that in future perhaps randomly put goodies in that are mainly average with a lesser chance of getting a chest with new stuff for ALL players across the whole 24hr period. At least then people get something. But then I guess some would still complain at that. I really like that colour schemes seem to have been done by ship rather than generically across all ships. New colour schemes seen so far: Essex Pink Royal Victory Chequer Bellpoule French New Renomee paint?? Saw this on a guy sailing around the shipwrecks. 2
Smithy Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 1 chest per person at once so that they have to return to port each time. this will mean much better chance for all to get a slice but also this would promote heavy pvp of enemy / pirates attempting to take chests around nearby ports especially if freeports 1
Guest Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 (edited) Announcing where it would take place earlier would've resolved alot - more people could've participated, and more people + more preparation = more PvP and less aggravation - instead of just being an open sea trade run for the select few who were nearby. Giving only 4 hours notice where everything would take place was beyond poor form, it was an atrocious choice - for large portions of the server (especially considering that it was EU primetime, not US) that would mean that they would have to have been camping the forums / in-game, and then had 4 hours to spare just to non-stop sail to the area to even have the slightest chance of participating. Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I am totally shocked at the amount of -why do you do this to me- complaints and especially calling rubbish to give aways of an event. Thanks to all that share the pics and the fine details. 6
ajffighter86 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 (edited) Come on folks, this was the first test of many events, which hopefully will improve over time. Those who participated didn't actually get much anyway, so all the butthurt over "it's on the other side of the map" might as well cease. Unless we all honestly think Jeheil is gonna go around murdering everyone with his purple pellews. In which case, this event was highly overpowered and unfair. And I hear the pink royal Essex paint absorbs cannonballs that hit its hull and turns them into cotton candy. Those are the only two overpowered drops from what I saw. Jan van Santen Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 (edited) Event setup seems totally unfair Imagine a new swedish/danish player on the opposite side of map....with no outpost and no heavy trader ..... Events should leave every player an equal chance to get something out of them other than frustration. Next time eg make it several fleets all over the map and limit the amount of wrecks 1 player can loot... Or make the wrecks spawn from bottles so players can take their time Edited August 20, 2016 by Jan van Santen 2
Sir Texas Sir Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Would be nice if the MODS/DEVS respond about anything. We got people on the US server confused. We didn't get a heads up by the mods as the EU server got. and folks are asking if it's a one time thing or will they respawn through out the day casue they think the devs said it will be an all weekend thing.
Nukenin Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Maybe next time the event wi Event setup seems totally unfair Imagine a new swedish/danish player with no outpost and no heavy trader ..... snowy2 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I enjoyed the event, the build up and speculation about what the weather report meant was fun for me. In terms of generating PVP, I think there were a couple of problems. 1) If you saw a ship coming back from the wrecks, it wasn't worth gambling a 1 hour fight where you might not cap him, or accidentally sink him, when you could gamble on picking up a wreck yourself. 2) Maybe a partial solution would be to give flags in the open world, like there are for conquest flags, for players that are carrying a chest. 3) Perhaps indicating when the wrecks are empty could also encourage more pvp, as you can then switch entirely to hunting other players. Overall, enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what adjustments are made.

I, who had to sail more than 2 hours to get there and than doent get anything for it - not even the chance, have to say that this was the worst idea the devs ever had. I totaly hated it and cant tell how mutch im pissed... Edit: I dont think this is "crying" but the event wasnt planed well enough - Only 4 hours to tell something regarding this even is not earlie enough for those which have to come there from the most farest place. Thats fact. So do it at least one day earlier. And the devs should also know that not everyone is reading the forum directly as they postet it. Edited August 20, 2016 by Twig 3
saltiestraccoon Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 No, I think everyone has a right to be mad. I got up at 7:30, sacrificed sleep and sailed for 3 hours to get to the fleet only to find out it had been picked clean. You gave us NO warning about where it would spawn. You did not supply sufficient loot or a good enough distribution for players to be rewarded for their efforts. Seriously, why would you not just instance the ships like wrecks so that every player could have a shot at treasure if they showed up? Why would you not give us any hint at the location until 2 hours before the event started when that's too short a time to reach the location for MANY factions? This was so poorly and unprofessionally handled that I am really doubting the Dev's experience with game design in general. I don't even have any design experience with MMO's and I could tell anyone 100% that this was not the way to execute this event. I am absolutely livid. I'm tired and I just wasted around 3 hours of my life sailing in a straight line and doing LITERALLY nothing enjoyable. This is not acceptable for an event even in alpha. Anyone with even a modicum of gaming experience, not even design experience, could tell you that the way they designed this event was terrible. 4

Making the same mistake twice is worse than making it once ..... Hint: Not everything other MMO's do is wrong. Prater Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Here is my takeaway. People are going to be mad no matter what. Everyone wants something. Everyone is saying everyone else had an advantage. The only way to cater to everyone is to just give redeemables. I'm kind of being sarcastic and kind of not. Everyone is saying gimmie gimmie gimmie. Not fair I didn't get one. Comeon. Granted, people did spend a lot of time sailing there for a small amount of rewards and some of us didn't have ships that could even pick them up. Maybe for the next event, have the weight of the rewards be between the weight of a LGV and Indiaman. Each one can only carry 1. Each reward drops a bunch of loot so clan members who are escorting these ships get loot as well. Another idea is to have several trade convoys sailing on the open world with tons of loot. Have fleets have several indiamen, a 3rd rate, several frigates and smaller ships. Have there be like 10 convoys spread around the map. 12
Nukenin Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Well I still wonder, why the wrecks are not disappering. There must be something to it?
Guest Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Probably the worst event I've participated in for... Years.. Wasted a saturday evening, no fun and no rewards.. Shitty event.. Pls do more of these so I can ignore them in the future..
