Fastidius Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 So one of the big things that annoys me about the game is gold for damage and the whole idea that sinking ships is a good thing....I think there is a opportunity to make a gold resource. I suggest you make doubloons a resource...has a set value in all ports. All loot from battles comes in the form of doubloons and does not become gold until sold in the town and banked. This means you can make treasure fleets and ship wreck recovery in the form of gold rather than mods and coins alone. doubloons is currency. gold coins and silver coins should be replaces with "gold and silver castings" Perosnally the idea of being able to capture a ship that has been at sea should include gold loot not it being earnt from sinking it. Make capturing a feature, rebuild boarding more coplex and balance and make gold fleets a thing. 4
Salzi Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) Essentually in this period there was low silver and gold, the gold rushes in the west was not untill the mid 1800s. Personally I would like to the the differant dollar systems in place as well as the trade token systems they where using because of the lack of metals. England at this time was using coins of gold and silver but their last silver minted coins where of 1820, as well as the notes system with £10 £15 notes being first introduced during 1759 however other currencey in the englishports that where usable where Pieces of Eight(Spanish dollar), Ducats and Dollar notes. Was a mix of coins and notes and supposedly the generation of coin was in decline other than the copper based coins. Edit - Dabloons where used I missed those out, but as I said it was mostly tokens, dollar/notes(paper) and spanish dollar(peices of eight) although I could do more research in this area so this is only coming fomr my current knowledge ^^' might have slighlt lost where i was going with that hehe but would be awesome if the nations had their own currency, it was useable in ports of nations that they are allied with ect as well as maybe an exchange system in place? as a simple gold coin systems simple true but having the true currency of the time would be great, it would change the way trade works and make smuggling harder when trading against enemy nations should you not have the correct currency to purchase goods. To me this stops people using the smuggler to go to other nations to starve their resources somewhat. Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Pieces of eight was the standard weight for crown pieces. It wasn't the norm for everyday trade. What really mattered was the weight in gold and in silver or sotck value of gems and other resources like bales of cotton, etc.
