J30_Reinhardt Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Wow Dude, Take a cp and stay calm, If you have not experience this issue let those that have, air their issues. We all trying to make the game better here that is all. Take your own advice before you attack one of my clan members. Maybe examine the entire equation of variables in server lag, player lag(physical location of opponent on the globe, ISP, router, firewalls, etc), de-sync, and packet-loss before you go spouting off at the mouth as to why a game that is still in alpha isn't working to your pre-conceived standards of smoothness as compared to other games that 'seem' faster. If you wish to attempt to talk down to me about experiencing such things on my own however... by all means, try. And I do mean TRY.
Kloothommel Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I was tagged in my LGV. I wanted to destroy my cargo in the countdown, but when the timer went to 14 second the battle loaded. I did an F11 report on this. Wierd lag issues popping up everywhere recently I see.
Vernon Merrill Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Shame on you. You shouldn't even be able to dump cargo during a tag 4
Atreides Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Since I began playing, if I know that I can't escape when tagged I will try to dump everything except a single bottle of rum that I always have in the bottom of my hold, then I will try to escape in battle. If that fails I surrender and tell my adversary to have a drink on me. Several people have laughed about it after, some have gotten their panties in a twist. Some people just are pissed off unless they are pissed off, I just enjoy the game. If I notice any odd lag I will F11 it, and wave my fists in virtual outrage of the loss of my pixels.
Harley Davidson Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Do you people understand plain English? Everything is server-based. Quit the rumor-mongering. All you are going to accomplish is to whip those thicker than yourselves into a frenzy. I wondering if you speak english? These players are reporting an issue that is a major game breaker and to have a patronizing attitude is just disgusting. Remember that these people have payed good money to enjoy this game and are trying to get some feed back to the devs. These people are trying their best to bring forth an issue that would cause people to avoid this game. We FEEL it is and exploit due to the fact that it does not affect Danes(Chinese) in particular. In stead of being condescending and trying to blow off a major issue, Why don't you offer some other alternative answer that would quell the exploit question? Actually, I've seen Devs sailing around in the south east, and invite them to battle the Danes to see for themselves what the issues are. Maybe its a server issue with that particular area of the world but please don't dismiss it as "Rumor mongering" Edited August 16, 2016 by Harley Davidson 1
Kilo Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I believe ya, Davidson. I've encountered the loss of steering control bug as well at critical junctures during some battles. Never on the Open World however, although lag steering can be present certainly. I usually regain control ( if it doesn't force a logout) after about 3 minutes. It reminds me of a USB Hub disconnect hack that i've heard being used in other competitive games. Anyways, if anyone interested uses windows 10 you can press Winkey+G before the battle ( built in windows fraps recorder); and try your luck at seeing if you can record the bug or possible exploit situation.

Yah I think it's funny he tells me to take a chill pill and he's the one snapping at me. Oh and speaking of the topic the other night when we went from Walker Cay to West End I got hit by a lag spike where I was going 0 knts and than skipped a head a bit on the OW. It's prob lost of packets lag spikes not some one hacking the game. Lag switches are mainly used on hosted games to cheat by the person that is hosting the game. Not to mention it's a very old thing used a good while ago and most games are created with defenses against them. Again that is cause most of the folks that use them are on hosted games they host themselves to cheat and rule the game. Mainly older FPS.

I guess I'm just finding frustrating. The majority of issues seem to happen in combat. I set up a fire ship fitting on a Buc and decided to go help the Swedes the morning after they fought hard for 2 ports around their capital. I waited for the Danes to leave the port battle and tag them. it was only 2 ships, 2 connies I think. I intended to sink them and if it went wrong use the fireship fitting to get at least one and damage the other. We entered combat as soon as they left the port battle and I got one broadside off into an enemy connie, then it all went bad. I had absolutely no control as I sailed without the ability to fire, change direction, move my masts, or change my sails. I was also on fire from the second counter broadside they had fired. My ship was on fire and I couldn't used the survival toggle button either, I couldn't change ammo either, I was locked out of the whole game. The Danes continued to fire into me with no apparent issues either with movement or gunfire. My Buc just sailed along until it sank. No crash, stutter, low FPS or anything that would suggest an ping issue for me, just a complete lock out until I entered the battle screen. After this the game played as smooth as silk for the rest of the day. To me this is suspect. My 2 cents Edited August 16, 2016 by Harley Davidson
Prater Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 The thing people are describing is the same issue that I've been experiencing. What is disgusting Harley Davidson, is that these players are claiming without proof that the people they are losing to are hacking. What if those people aren't hacking and get banned? Now that is sick and disgusting. This issue appears to be somewhat widespread. So who are you going to accuse of hacking? Either something is wrong with the server or something, but the devs will have to figure it out. It is an alpha, and I suggest people to fill out f11s when it happens. Also, who is doing it to me when I am in port? And I also want to know how they figured out other stuff because it happens to stuff they shouldn't know, and probably do not know. And that is why I am pretty sure this issue is not targeted, and it might not be anyone hacking, but an issue with the server the devs need to figure out.
GrapeShot Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 Maybe somebody should build a lag switch and test it out in a duel room. 1
Kilo Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 (edited) Just out of pure curiosity - are you using a wireless keyboard/mouse, Harley? (both usb wireless here). Edited August 16, 2016 by Kilo

All I saw BadPenny do was say chill out and then explain that players that have questions about gameplay should have an opportunity to do so. You, complaining about being snapped at, were the first person to start name-calling and acting (hopefully) younger than your actual age.
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 A "lag switch" will not do anything but you get you, personally, killed. The game does not rely on your response to function. Period, end of story. Claims that people are "hacking" are ridiculous for the reasons mentioned above by Admin. It's all or nothing folks. The only way to mess with the server would be to DDOS it - which would screw everyone at the same time. Accusing people without any evidence is not tolerated. The forum rules REQUIRE that you treat each other with respect. I don't see a lot of that in this thread, and that makes me sad. When I get sad, I get mad, and when I get mad, I start handing out warnings. Follow the rules. If you're experience odd disconnects, lag, etc, immediately run a connection test (start the game from steam and select "Connection Test"). THIS is how you get server problems fixed. Give the developers data to work with. There are definitely problems with the client sometimes in larger battles. Loss of control and desynch definitely happens. F11 and report is the only way this issue will get identified and fixed. If you're going to claim "Hacking", do it with a video. Anything else will be dismissed immediately as trolling. I'd leave this open but y'all seem more focused on insulting each other and trolling than actually discussing the issue like reasonable human beings. 6
