Just had two good players find themselves in a battle with Danes and suddenly just stop and can do nothing .. the game freezes.

Lag switch exploit needs to cause the guy lagging to fall out of the battle.

You do know there is such a thing as lag that isn't caused by players. Like bad connections from you and the server.  Happens all the time and I'm a US player playing on the US server.   I don't think it's any exploit.

Lag should not affect the player who is not experiencing lag if the game was properly coded.  This game appears to wait for an update and therefore causes the instance to stop for the player.  Your experience slightly as players enter a ongoing battle.  But if used during a battle allows a ship to move while the attacked players is stopped.    It appears to be an exploit.

I disconnect during a battle and the fact that the devs appear to seem to want to resync you is why this happens.  There should be disco counter that produces and a disconnect threshold that will cause your character to be reported for discipline.

This game is not peer- to-peer. We use fully authoritative server.

We don't resync anyone. And don't wait for an update from anyone. Everything is on the server (even water) and life on the server goes on until instance closes or crashes. No-one can influence it except for provider itself. If someone disconnects he drops sails and stops for 5 mins until he reconnects. Please stop making assumptions about tech if you dont know the tech

Also if you were in battle why did not you file and F11 report right after?

Or you are talking about other people rumours? based on what you say you mention other people experience - not your personal problem?

Did those 2 lose their ships?

PS if everyone in the instance froze most likely reason is that battle instance server just crashed. This can be confirmed if no ships were lost.

I also noticed significant lag issues when fighting the Danes last night.  It didn't appear to happen to them and I haven't encountered it before.  It allowed them to gain on my rattlesnake which was doing 14.4 kn at the time while they were in 4th rates.  I still escaped.  I have no explanation and an exploit sounds plausible to me.

They did file the F11. They did lose their vessels. I was not in the battle but it was reported by 2 players at two different incidents of moving toward the same player in a single battle. The players speed suddenly went from several knots to zero. Guns would nor reload and when they managed to turn from the player the game resumed normal operations.

Yah sounds like some lag issues. I know the other night we where in a PB and every one was hit by the same lag spike on both sides.   It didn't get any one killed as it was still early in the fight.

We also noticed it again doing fleets to help a lower rank player rank up.

Since most of the Danes are in China could there be some sort of communication disparity between their server and the US one which is causing the issues?  ...just trying to think of an innocent reason it might be happening although I have yet to encounter an mmo that hackers couldn't break into.

I call bull shit... Every time I fight with the Danes I either crash at a critical moment or I loose all control of my ship. I have been playing from day one with this game and have NEVER had this happen before. THIS IS AN EXPLOIT!  I have screen shots to prove it.  My ping is usually 73ms.  and I have fought many players on ALL servers I have NEVER had this happen until I fight the Danes ...WHY?

These are the issues I've encountered with the Dane alone and never before:

1)Loss of all ship control.... everything, while my ships is still moving and my ping is still 73ms,  Danes firing back with NO issues in movement, speed, sails or anything.

2)In port battles, as I try to send marines over to a capped tower I get an naval action.exe error and crash only to log back on and find I am either being boarded or sinking by the Danes.

3)Complete slow down of ship speed when trying to engage DANES ONLY.

4)Complete broadside from a St.pavel into a Danish Bellona so near I could touch them and NO Damage was recorded.

Please understand that I have played PvP lots and I know what I am doing. I am not a whiner because I get sunk... I will be the first to congratulate a better player because of their SKILL, and those in the community know this. I enjoy fighting players that present a challenge and consider it an honor to get sunk by them...... NO ISSUE THERE.

I just hate cheaters or those with no skill using exploits.

Lag switch is REAL and they are using it.  Why do THEY have full control and no issues?  Why is it that anyone else that is fighting them do?

I could chalk it up to bad ping or something else if it also happened to THEM, but it does not. If they have such an issue, send them to a different server.  I will be fighting them a lot from now on and will be sending F11 reports every time this happens. I will also have others that have had similar issues post on this thread because this is a Serious Issue and needs to be looked at.

This is a major game breaker, Players experiencing this will just QUIT and we don't need that.

If it is an exploit, why does it happen to me in port when no one except my clanmates even know I am on?  Young and I have frequently been disconnected at the same exact time lately.  I've had it a few times on the open sea and in port.  When I am on the open sea, I lose control of my ship and then a few seconds later I am back to the log in screen.  Connection to TS is fine and it will be Young and I at the exact same time.  We could be in different areas of the map, he could be on the open sea and me in port.  It then takes 2-5 minutes for us to get through the login queue and it appears by the messages that a report is being sent to Game Labs.  It is interesting because it happens to just a few people.  The vast majority of people in our clan don't experience this when we do.

I don't think it is an exploit but a server issue.

I had a US player board  my Mortar Brig doing 5.2 knots and did a report. It was the second time he boarded me and I was pretty much dead, but I wasn't pissed at that, it was the fact I was going 5.2 knots when he boarded and when the screen came up my ship was a full length from his.   The US players told me to stop complaining and it was just lag.  To me it felt like an exploit and my ping didn't change, but it could just as easly been packet lost/lag.  So what did I do? I made an F11 report about it.  I think it's server lag not cheats.   People got to understand your ping won't all ways change when you get packet lost or lag issues and some of them could be routers on the way to the server not just the game server so only certain players in a region would be effected and not other players.

Yah I'm going to say it's prob packet lost and lag.  If you got more than one player hit by it and not in the same battle than it's not an exploit.  We try to ask on nation chat or global to see how many others got hit by it and it tends to be more folks than just in our battle so it's not an exploit.

This stuff will completely kill the game.  People will not play a hackers dream game.

Do you people understand plain English?

Everything is server-based.

Quit the rumor-mongering. All you are going to accomplish is to whip those thicker than yourselves into a frenzy.

Server lag and packet lost is not the games fault. It's a router in root to the game server or even the game server it self.  This is an alpha so they prob not using the top servers they would us when it goes live or speed of connections that is.   It's nto like we are goign to keep any of this stuff so it's not worth cheating.   I'm waiting for them just to do a wipe to shut you little cry babies up...oh wait you will cry and call it hacks even than.

It being server based is not fool proof. Do you know what a Lag Switch is?

It dose not matter if all action is server based (which most games are) lag switch can still do the job its designed to do.

The 1st time I experienced this was a few days ago trying to tag a Danish vessel, I tagged him and was well within range and the timer started resetting every 2-3 seconds and the same time I then lost all control of my boat, the next thing u know the target ship is slipping out of my view distance. Thought nothing of it at the time, just though I was having net issues.

The 2nd time it happened to me was in open world trying to tag a Danish ship, the target vessel was well within circle, timer ran out yet no battle. The target vessel proceeded into port and got away.  Just before this I experienced total loss of control of my ship, I could not steer, stop. I not game functionality at all for about 15 secs, the others in TS at the time started saying the same thing was happening to them, Yet all this time the Danish vessel steered through our ships around a cnr of island and into port into port. We had 5 ships there all trying to get this guy and I got to say it was the fastest Navy Brig I have ever seen, this thing was lick a jet boat.

Its very strange that this has happend twice whist engaging the same nation, it could be a Chinese network issue. But if this is happening to many ppl well, I would thing that the Devs need to investigate this fully, which I am sure they are. I have been playing this game for a while now and have not had this happen b4.

Wow Dude, Take a cp and stay calm, If you have not experience this issue let those that have, air their issues. We all trying to make the game better here that is all.

Most games actually dont do all the calculations server side to save server side resources, a lot of shooters (not all) for example will do hit detection client side. Other games might do movement entirely client side(which allows things like noclip and flying) etc. With everything being server side, that means that what the client really does is render the scene and pass input on to the server and the server handles hit detection, bullet drop, movement etc. As a result a simple lag switch does not work. As most have said, the issue lies else where, where it is i dont know and all i can reccomend is make reports when it happens.

I would say that the last two months, the amount of disconnects I have is likely to be at about 1 time every session, as far as I recall always during a battle not in OW. Where before I had it happen to me only 1 or 2 times. One of them was me getting logged out together with half of the team. As it goes for connectivity, I know nothing changed from my side, so I expect some changes from the server side. Especialy since the population is now at about 1/3 of what it was 3 - 4 months ago, it seems strange the connectivity has got worse for me. Do mind you its not game breaking, as it only takes like a couple of seconds to log back in. But in lets say a boarding instance this can be fatal.

I never experienced anything laggy in hit detection or anything, lag seems more significant in the OW. Where sometimes my sails won't rise, or I see specific ships just scoot forward a a bit without other ships seeming laggy.

So I would definitely say that the connectivity seems a bit unstable and unpredictable, probably causing allot of frustration.

It might be a good idea to see if this can be optimized from the devs part. But maybe this goes under the optimilization they do once the game has more or less finalized.
