PvP Arena - Drop in Battles

Sea trials were brilliant and one of the reasons they were brilliant is because if all I had was 30-40 mins, I could drop into a lobby and have some fun, rather than the 2hours I find to enjoy OW (which is brilliant but needs the investment).

 

I think NA could REALLY win a player base as well as provide us OW'ers a place to have some fun by giving the 'small, medium and duals' a real polish.

 

Lets have some 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 leagues with some sort of BR divisions. Provide rankings and cosmetic rewards for season wins or some such (a pennant..figure head etc). Rewards that don't change OW play beyond pretty.

 

This would allow folks to drop in have some fun, hone their PvP skills etc and make the game more accessible and fun for casuals.

Because with the actual implementation of armor and pen it doesnt work like that. but the shortcut to the pew may be a viable option with less playtime at hand.

There are already small battles under the missions tab. I haven't done one in a while (too tired of seeing all the basic cutters). What do you feel should be changed about those? I'd like to see a skirmish lobby like the one in POTBS.

Like the idea,  seeing hardly anyone uses the small battles option maybe just take away the ship loss and add a couple of simple leaderboards (dmg W/L?) to test it out.

open world is a great thing and we learnt a lot making it.

but indeed if you want somewhat equal fight its harder to get them (like in RL)

 

having said that i would like to make an official statement. 

Arena mode is not hard to do (separate client with a 1 big get fight button)

 

But implications are unknown. 

Elite and Ark introduced arena modes and i believe ELITE's arena failed and Arks one has very bad ratings. 

Also ST1 ended up with empty servers for us as well (but of course we only had 7-8 ships then and a lot less battle content).

 

Based on above mentioned implications the one possible (good) way is to bring arena back in form of official tournaments as part of the OW. 

 

I would prefer a simple arena server, but at least it's not impossible we can see something like this in the future.
