Eishen Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Based in the old "no quarter given/surrender or die" meaning of the pirate flag I have come with this idea to hopefully lessen the "surrender at the very end" problem New Officer Perk :"No Quarter" (Maybe only pirate for full flavor) Enemy individual ships cannot surrender(*) IF they have done more than X total damage in the battle. This perk should have a distance requirement (much as current "Control" perk) and it should be double direction (as control perk is too) (*) In fact the enemy ship should be able to surrender (to avoids griefers keeping people indefinitely in battle) so he can abandon battle, but losing all crew and an officers "live" as if they have been sunk.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Would be oddly broken and promptly abused versus warships. Cannot see Pirates back then using the Black as a everyday thing to attack warships. They did in their last stands for sure. Not they had any other option. Their plight was to engage trade and get filthy rich for a day to spend it all upon returning to port. Actually retirement was an idea that got lost to many crewmen Now, IF a similar perk would be given to us, pirates, to be able to "Surrrender or Die" any trader with the option of taking only what we could fit in our holds and let the prey go away with what he had left it might be a different case. 1
Tonnerre de Brest Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Well, what if you're making it a gamble system instead. Pirates used to give ultimatums to avoid combat but still get loot. With such a perk you might be giving the choice: Give up the loot and ship but you keep officer and crew alive with no loss or Fight with no option to surrender. If you get boarded same rules as usual apply.
