b.westall Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 was wondering if you folks could put map coordinates on O W ,would make things a lot easier than switching back and forth. thanks
Prater Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 When it comes to coordinates, I don't think things should be made easier. We are talking about the age of sail. If anything, the amount of readings and the accuracy should be an officer perk.

If anything, the amount of readings and the accuracy should be an officer perk. A very high costing officer perk. I've seriously sailed from Cton to KPR to Concepcion w/o any worry at all. It's....sad. Was far more fun working out the heading I needed just by knowing where I was, reading the map, and going "yeaaaa, this looks right." *ends up in Bermuda* 4
SheepDip Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Yup , long ago I sailed down around Little Issac Rocks , this was before coordinates , it was challenging but fun ! You kinda need them when looking for a shipwreck during a 3 hour realtime storm ......

Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 too much help will mean the death of: - having to explore an area - learning the landmarks to help navigation It promotes: - afk sailing by point and forget - not paying attention to horizon, getting jumped and then asking for mechanics to cover their whiny decks 1
