Neverdead Ned Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Bit concerned about not being able to surrender is sinking or on fire. Is that not specifically when one would almost 100% strike colours and surrender? A better option would have been to give the enemy the kill rewards of somebody strikes in this scenario. I eo understand why it was done but it seems a little gamey that captains have no mercy for ships on fire or sinking There is no point in giving the crew or officers lives if there is no risk to losing them. Most captains know when their ships are about to lose all their armor on a side and they know when it's hopeless to fight on. This is the point in which to surrender. Denying the victor a prize is just as petty as captains wanting to see an opponent's crew and officers go down with the ship. I hope the change brings more judgement into when and how to use a surrnder. 1
Duncan McFail Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 We worked very hard this month and your comment offended my programmers and artists (makers of Bucentaure and Santa Cecilia). I changed my mind and trading xp will never get implemented until release because of your comments. I am not joking. We focus on making happy customers happier. Half empty pessimists are not our market How about we do ship colors customization instead? What do you think captains? Don't let one guy get you down. He doesn't speak for the majority. Your small dev team is putting in good work here. I'm personally happy to see the high level of effort being put into this game. You guys are doing a great job. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise 16

New ships, improvements in crafting (new perks), more bottles, improved sailing (have to test it to see what is different). Did we get new sounds? Thanks a lot for your work. It would have been nice to have land in port battles, but we will get it sooner or later. 3

delaine Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 No Santa Cecilia ? Thing i was the more looking for in this patch sadly. Like already said not fan of officer perks with officer limited lifes and all xp needed plus the imbalance it create between top ranked players able to grind 35K xp quickly and others needing a long time to do this or simply not able to be on par with other players as them total cumulated level xp isn't reaching 35K , plus no sign of multiples officers for multiples tasks or ships types, unless economy perks are added into a different kind of perks pool, don't see how a fighting officer should have an effect on economy or ships building process. Bit unclear for now, have to see this in game and see perks details to say more about some listed ... look in your bps matey
Bulwyf Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 The inability to surrender when sinking is a bad move, this is when you would surrender. You should be able to surrender during a boarding action also, it was when most surrenders took place. This change really smacks of gamey change to satisfy those with no interest in historical accuracy. 1

Once your ship is sinking or burning to the water, its pretty much a given you've lost. What good to an enemy would surrender do then ? Strike colors or not youve lost. I like the new change.
delaine Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Ship customization wpuld rock. yes please start work on ship customization id like to change the colors of some of my ships(hull only im fine with) even tho the sarcasim with the post was possably there 3

Make it be 50% or 75%? With no surrender ability now, we might as well make the officers have 9 lives. Something missing in this update is the National Treasury, to which players can donate. The idea being that we can donate all these shipwreck gold/silver coins to and the NPC would automatically make notes to sell at market, or automatically convert the notes into materials to sell at market. And look at this guy^ just brilliant.... hehe
Kanay Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 For the sounds i said earlier the sounds in OW were too low and that after adjusting them in options it was good again , but then comes the sound into battle sessions that are at higher level than in open world and there you need to again go to options and this time lower them . If i adjust ship sound effects and waves to match more or less what we had before the patch in OW then in battle session they become way too loud, If i adjust those same sound options in battle then in OW then become way too low and removes the immersion, Sounds are being worked on but sound levels should be the same in OW and in battle session , if i adjust the waves sound effect level in OW it should be the same once in the battle session . Thanks look in your bps matey Yeah got it and done one that ended perfectly how i needed it, for once rng was kind, now trying to get the outcome i need for another using a different wood type, no luck and tired so i will be crafting some more tomorrow and see if rng will make me do 12 without even once getting what i need like recently with another ship or if it will be kind again PS : about sinking and surrendering : Does the water we have often while still full armor on sides but bow destroyed, water level so low that it is not even visible on the compass but using 23 or so crew constantly on survival removes the ability to surrender ? It's hard to notice it in the heat of the battle and you can stay with those 23 crew pumping out water for an entire match as you have still the armor full on the sides and back , so anyone knows if this state does not allow surrendering of if we need to let's say have 5-10% water max to still be able to surrender ?

I suggest setting it at a percentage of water intake or fire.
Destraex Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I also wonder a few of my clan posted new texture pics which look to be rather plain colours. Cerberus seems to be changed from red to wood colour? Does this mean we can paint our ships with historical colour pallet's soon? I have not tested it myself yet so it may just be my wishful thinking.

I eo understand why it was done but it seems a little gamey that captains have no mercy for ships on fire or sinking Right... of course you should be able to surrender saving the entirety of the crew and the life of your officer just moments before a fire engulfs your power magazine... yeah that makes sense. If you want to attempt to fight to the death you should be committed to death; what is the point of the crew costs and officer lives if it is any other way? 3
akd Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 It would save lives of officers and crew. I suggest setting it at a percentage of water intake or fire. You will turn off survival, surrender, always save your crew and officer, but never leave a prize for the winner, because the ship will still sink or burn down (which should logically kill all your crew and officers). Nope.

Nope. Easily fixed by having the ship heal up enough to stop sinking after surrender or just flat out become invincible.

King of Crowns Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Awesome. I do think that surrender should be available when you are sinking and on fire. That is when you are supposed to surrender I disagree. As it was pvp was the lowest reward in the game. The winner of a pvp fight would never be able to get the kill or assists credit due to last min surrender, and the ship would also sink preventing what little profit coulda been made from sailing it. There maybe be a better solution to this problem. However, for the time being I think this is a very good change.

Nope. Easy enough to send a boatload of crew to the ship to stop the leaks, especially when the surrendering crew was too small to be able to have done it themselves

I am not finding any option in officer screen. Yep same here i do also have the BP already in my crafting menu. & Go to officers and right click on your officer -> then click on reset! You will lose 3 levels (3 points) unfortunately. Then you can reschedule your perks. ^^ Edited July 29, 2016 by Cpt Fred
