Many will complain that fishing takes away from the PvP. In reality fishing does help the new player get a foothold in the game.

We all start with a free cutter with 4lb guns. Use this vessel to capture a trader lynx. I suggest the lynx as it is the sports car of the ocean and will allow you the ability to get away from most attackers. ALTHOUGH the trader's lynx is the smallest of the cargo ships with a hold capacity of 800. If you using this ship for fishing and as you fish, converting the catch to fish meat as you sail through the waters you can fill your hull with the product.

There are a large number of locations which will buy this product for 33. This will net you a maximum 26,400. If you find on your travels (and there are a few) will buy your product for 99, netting you a profit of 79,200.

Both figures are enough for you as a new player to get an outpost, buy a building or get a better fighting ship without having to grind like the rest of us had to months ago to get a better ship to play in.

I have been working with this on one of the PvP servers and have been surprised as to how fast one can get a decent and workable monetary foot hold in the game.

Remember you are capitalizing on the time spent sailing to turn a profit. This is where time is money.

Good luck to you new captains and may you keep sailing.

Good advice, and you can boost this further by keeping "Shark" labeled fish (and a few others) unconverted and sell them to the shop for even more profit.

Absolutely right. Giant manta ray, flying fish and some sharks will net you about 5000 each (not worth converting).

And should the fish market become stuffed, pick up some salt and craft it up into food supplies.

Hopefully the free crew bug will be fixed soon, so demand will rise. :)

When you locate ports that CONSUME these fish -- you can get as high as......

Giant Oceanic Manta ray - 7500

Flying Fish - 7500

Bull Shark - 7500

Smooth Hammerhead sharks - 7500

Eels - 7500

Otherwise you can still get 5000 each for them at most ports. Don't forget most Freeports consume them ... or at least most of them ... use the delivery system if you are out and about, and ship them to a location you have an OP at --if they take them at a higher price (7500). You only need to "own" (have as an established outpost) the destination Freeport. But you can ship FROM any Freeport on the map.
