maturin Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I think that pitch in this game is heavily physics-based, and has more to do with the bow rising to the waves, than plunging down into the water. (Technically this motion is called scend, not pitch.) But more importantly, pitching isn't any kind of handicap in gameplay. Roll scarcely is, either.
Saint George Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Optimized Ballasts takes care of this well enough for roll already. As far as small ships 'pitching", ever seen a "small" ship on a rough ocean. The in game modeling of ship "pitch" over waves is pretty accurate for the typical wave size. What I do think needs tweaking is the wave size. Typical sea conditions in the game exhibit waves that are more like what is encountered on stormy seas, even when it is not stormy. The average wave is at least the height if the average frigate hull, all the time. This is not realistic. So I believe scaling down the waves is reasonable and would help the smaller vessels some.
