11 members have voted

  1. 1. Q1: Rename Large/Small battle to Deep/Shallow battle. Also make the ships eligible somewhat similar to how port battles (deep/shallow) are handled now?

  2. 2. Q2: Bake the battles into the current port capturing system. (Read below)

  3. 3. Q3: Allow for hot join and/or spectators for these battles?

  4. 4. Q4: Add a map rotation which are snapshots of OW areas all around the map?

  5. 5. Q5: Implement a 'beta' mission which allows us to sample upcoming changes pre release.

  6. 6. Q6: Implement rankings based on these battles?

    • Yes
    • No
    • Yes but keep separate from OW ranks (looking forward to such is a lord patch).
  7. 7. Q7: Improve rewards for battle?

    • Yes
    • No
    • Battle rewards should be unique compared to ow rewards such as gold and experience and mods etc.
    • Rewards should be based on player standing (related to Q6).

Instead of having to sail to defend/attack a port, a mission pops up to defend or attack. For now, only nations that are directly involved in the battle will have eligibility to join per the role they play.

I don't like this taking away the role of Open World. It should be a challenge to ensure you get ships to the Port Battle.

IMO brawling to and from the Port Battle is the best activity there is.

Skully, I had the same concern. How often is the open world a factor in port battles though?

For me the OW has been more of an obstacle for the defenders, not the attackers. Defenders need to make their way through screeners, and if they are late to the battle get decimated by passing ships because the spawned in the middle of the attacking fleet.

I feel the OW aspect of a port battle detracts from the actual experience of the port battle in almost all aspects. In fact, the only aspect I like about the current Port battles is the time it actually takes to sail to it. Its good to know how long it will take the attackers to sail there (roughly) to make it to the battle so you can at least participate in it.

During June I did a series of battle reports:

And at June 22nd, we actually instigated a PB to lure ships in only to hit them on the OW. :)

So in most of those reports the PBs themselves, even if they did happen, had little impact on the story.
