can we get a bit more altitude? not in the sense of the home key where you got free cam, but just a little more distance than how it is now. a better field of view would be nice

I'm all for this suggestion. When we were given the spyglass in open world I was hoping (in fact, asked) if we could retain the free-cam view, but only the view from above and behind our ship, not forward of our ship in any way.​

 

It sure was nice viewing the open world from the above and rearward perspective during long voyages. If bringing back this single free-cam view is out of the question, then I agree with the poster and would be happy with a larger field of view.

It would be especially useful in port battles. It gets very hard to see player names when everyone is shoulder to shoulder.

Free cam is available in (port) battles. It was removed from open world, because we were continuously ambushing from behind islands.
