Nothing deep in this one...just a fun one...got chased out of a port in a big of a throwaway connie, he had a fleet with him and obvious boarding set...so I had a go at driving him onto the beach...worked rather well....angled so I could get off but he would get caught in the shallows/land do you think this should be a thing ?

I am not sure he was 'sinking' but he was somewhat goosed.

I didn't seem to be able to capture his ship and didn't get it after he surrendered (which makes me think it was technically 'sunk').

And of course no kill prizes...but thats already being addressed.

So with Port Battles soon going to include land....what do we think, as a GENERAL DISCUSSION, should happen if you run-aground.

This exact tactic was described in one of the Aubrey-Maturin novels, where "Lucky Jack" knew the exact soundings of bars and reefs near the mouth of a foreign port.  Because he had surveyed them carefully in an earlier peacetime visit.  Sailed "Surprise" into it, hammered the port fortifications and did some damage.  He was chased out by an enemy warship coming out of the docks, sailing hammer and nails in close to shore ... Jack knew the narrow bit where his keel would clear, shaved it like a London barber.  The enemy did not.  Jack left the enemy "struck" on a reef, "hulled" and being beaten in the surf, its crew frantically lowering boats to get off alive.

I think you didn't get the x to assign crew because his ship was at too steep of an angle? Would've liked to see if you could unbeach and push him a bit to level more. Either way, that was cool! I'd read of this happening before in RL. I like Sire's 1st idea but the next two should be a choice given to the victor. And surrender should count as kill.

I am going to pretend that is exactly how precise I was...as opposed to "ooo look a beach...I wonder if...lol"

Running your ship into the shore should have some pretty serious consequences otherwise it does seem to be rather lame. Not that you shouldn't be able to do it but it probably should result in the loss of the ship. I can't imagine if you beached a massive warship that it would be very easy to get it back out to sea let alone potential damage it could have very likely suffered by the maneuver.

Was a nice battle and a ''unique'' beaching time...my ship was taking water by side even if this side was on the air...nothing possible to do :D.

Hoppefully for you, you were with the perk ''defending boarding''.
