Ok more like improvement on them. It may hurt the economy i dont know , i didnt d the math but i know when i make a ship and then need upgrades and cant find anyone to make them i nake them and install them myself.

This works fine and i understand that permanent upgrades are built into the ships and cant hust be removed BUT when you finally get the purple or gold upgrade to install over the blue or green why do you have to destroy it, if its part of the ship?

Shouldnt the better copper plating just be making the cheap one you have better by making it smoother or cleaner etc?

What if putting the permanent upgrade over an existing upgrade gave you a refund of some of the mats since its the same thing only in better shape?

Would this hurt crafting and the economy or further drive it since people would maybe buy the cheap stuff AND the better later.

Thoughts ?

I feel your pain on this one. This has been an irritant for me as well. As I see it, you buy, make or get rewarded with a perm. upgrade. You use it and then get a better one and you have a nother ship to add upgrades to. So you want to move the one from ship A and put it on ship B and then install the new upgrade onto ship A. Then you find out this cannot be accomplished.

You can do it with everything else but for permenante upgrades. It really makes you think out what upgrade you are going to want or can currently afford or find. Then you are stuck with that decision until sometime in the future where you can destroy the upgrade and install a new without feeling you lost something in the transaction.

And what the heck is that send to "CHAT" supposed to do anyway??????

Here is a though on this. Since a Green upgrade is a cost of a medium note then upgrades can be set agaist the addition of green uup grades against the current upgrade. Example, basic-grey upgrade (copper bottom) is on ship. Add a green Copper bottom and the upgrade turns from grey to green. Add another green copper bottom and the upgrade turns blue, and so on and so on until you have a gold upgrade. You have made the upgrades according to the cost of the up grade if you were to create it yourself.

A limitation would be your upgrade cannot exceed your craft XP. This way a new person who can craft green upgrades only cannot reward himself in a gold upgrade unless he reaches the XP level for gold (which is 50). If you do not follow this route then all individuals who have made or are striving to make level 50 in craft have be disenfranchised. Although if you have made it to level 50 and have a purple upgrade, you can make it gold with the use of a green. AT the level of 50 you can do this as you can craft gold upgrades.

This would work ! It would definitely make me more apt to buy lesser upgrades if i cant afford better at the time.

I hate that perma upgrade need's to be destroyed before selling the ship.

Why? Its part of a ship. No point destroying them. They should sink with ship. Or be sold with ship.
