Shadowwulf Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 After a very long hiatus I recently returned to Naval Action. Before I left land was not implemented in battles. What would the developers and the community think about tactical beaching? Meaning that if your sinking and you actually managed to beach your ship before you sink you would not lose a durability. In my mind it kind of makes sense. Beaching your ship would allow the crew to make repairs and sail back to port. Now I know there are plenty of real life circumstances to dis-credit this IE: ships too damaged to be salvaged or repaired. Remember this is just a suggestion. If a "tactical beaching" isn't an accepted idea what about the same principle but you lose a durability but your at least retain your crew and your one of your Officers 10 lives? 3
maturin Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Good idea, so long as the ships are still vulnerable to being boarded and/or burnt. But did anyone else think that he meant this?
Young Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 i like this idea a lot. I am not sure about keeping the duro on the ship but not losing crew or the officer seems to be a really good middle ground, there would have to be a timer or something so your ship could still be boarded and or blown up well your crew is disembarking
Tief N Tote Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 well you could also beach you ship then use it like a fort and fight on
Rebel Witch Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 beaching sounds good and there should be more penalty, mobility loss if you beach or hit shore too,
CaptVonGunn Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 beaching sounds good and there should be more penalty, mobility loss if you beach or hit shore too, Like tearing the bottom out on that reef?

Do you mean something like this?: Now I am not sure a ship that was beached as much as this one could repair and re-float itself, but at minimum, you could save the crew.

Yeah just like that, if you manage to beach a sinking ship maybe we shouldn't lose a dura but be heavily penalized for repair cost. Or like I said above not lose crew or an officers life.
Pagan Pete Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Le Probleme with this her tactical beaching is… currently you can still turn when beached! Even with your sails filly furled!!! Its an exploit used by some captains to try and save their precious cargo and, adorable cabin boys, from theft. Cheap bast…er… illegitimate children.
