I'm a bit on the fence with this one. I must argue that having fleets tied to the crew mechanic is a step in the right direction, but it does need more work.

 

Limitations on what can be done with a fleet in tow may alleviate some issues. Perhaps limiting players with fleets from engaging in PvP: if you have a fleet you cannot attack other players or join PvP battles, but you can be attacked. 

 

Perhaps we should also work what ships can be used as fleets and when. Limit fleets based on the ship that the player is piloting: if you are sailing a trader's Lynx, you can't have 2 connies escorting you.

I think fleets make for a very good option, which we need in the future.

 

Just the other day I had to move a couple of ships to a to-be-created outpost.

 

It does need a little tweaking on Open World movement. A fleet needs to move at the speed of the slowest ship and then with a penalty of -1 knot per ship added.

 

I was mixing a Constitution with a Pickle and all of a sudden I could no longer move downwind.

 

So does a fleet with a Lynx and two Constitutions. You lose all downwind and upwind speed.

Something i have no though about before and is apparently possible now turn the game into something i don't like much :

 

Get an outpost captured with materials and warships locked ... go there as smuggler in a trader, load your materials into the trader, add your locked warships to your trader as fleet, get out with all your stuff captured now being liberated ... what's the point  ...

 

Used only once fleet for now for a trader i captured and assigned to my ship fleet for a short travel ... while i'd like to add some ships for my traders runs i'm not fan of the fleet system as it is used and did not experimented much since this after seeing many use fleets or large ships now ..

Sailing my Conni solo and I run across 2 pirates players each in a Renommee.  And each has 2 AI Renommee's.  1 vs. 2 turns into 1 vs. 6.  That is BULLSHIT!

 

This is the third time player AI fleets have been added to the game and the third time I refuse to ever get them.  I understand you have spent a lot of time coding this with the AI tablet and you want it in game.  I have to ask why?  Why spend so much time on something that wrecks PVP?  All the same problems we had before and fought to have them removed are back.

 

I have zero respect for any captain I see sailing with them.  Dev's so bent on putting this in game against most players wishes.

 

Everyone who hates players AI fleets sound out now and get this removed from the game a third and hopefully final time!!!

Yep, most players agree.. Fleets are CRAP! They ruin so many elements of the game, circumvent too many problems, and create more problems that can't be easily solved.

Just tested something, if you leave battle, but your fleet members can not, they surrender.

 

So far I'm all for keeping fleets in, provided they get my aforementioned speed penalties.

"most players" as in 4 counted so far? We don't want to do another hyperbolic vs preposterous discussion again, do we? :P

 

Can you add "Remove Fleet?" "Yes", "No" poll? Then we can start the measurements.

Where'd you get that from? Have you not read the other threads?

Fleets could remain in only if they behave as traders in battle and flee, no fighting. Therefore you can use the mechanic to move your ships enmasse, or help you carry more goods, but no fighting.

This is the third time fleets have been in game.  There has been much discussion in the past how fleets hurt the game.  And the devs removed them twice because most players wanted them removed.

the new idea for fleets is a great idea it is win win for everyone who wants to use fleets, if you dont want to use a fleet its your choice. please respect the choices of players, this fleet idea takes NOTHING away from pvp it adds more targets and complexity , thank you

I dont support fleets. Never did. 

 

I hate PvE with all my heart.

 

But i've barely seen anyone use fleets due to the risk included. 

- Use Fleets and you risk loosing ALOT of crew.

Of course a guy that spends 90% of time attacking traders in tier 5-6 ships would hate the idea of fleets..no more easy targets for poor pete.

Why are ppl complaining about fleets? It changes ONLY ONE aspect of PvP, no longer are there 5 v 1 ganks. That is the absolute only difference. 

 

Yer perspicacity be a bit underwelming.

Pre patch 5-1 gank. Post Patch 15-3 gank.   HOW exactly is that better?

 

 

Also Id like to point out that fleets are the most detrimental wot to new players!  Since low ranked members can't crew a ship that is big enough to defend themselves, the new player is at the biggest disadvantage! =oO 

 

I thought the devs were trying to make the game newb-friendly?

 

in conclusion:

  1. Fleets hurt new players the most.
  2. Fleets turn a PVP game into a PVE game.
  3. Fleets do nothing to stop ganking.

That is incorrect...

Pagan Pete spends 90% of his time in the Banshee, my privateer, whilst attacking vessels.

 

 

Ive come to the opinion that most of this so called "pro-fleet" thing is actually an woefully incorrect "anti-Pete" thing.

I do like fleets. Because instead of tp ships you can just "carry" them with you :thumbs up:

If both the ganked and the gankee are running fleet, its maybe as much a pro ganking as an anti ganking thing?

I would think people will rather run a fleet to prevent getting ganked then use them to gank.

No, not even then… What happens there is, in my epic experience, you take the trade ship in 5minutes, then have to spend the next 40 battling the freakin AI.

 

Nothing changed, just a pain in the neck and a waste of time.

Aye, unfortunately there is no way to prevent that.
