sirs,

i'm a new pirate (pvp1) and somehow at loss at what's going on in the world. i miss the bigger picture.

here are a few questions:

1.  how do i find out in what area of the map there's something going on, i.e. nation conflict, campaigns, etc? are there areas that are contested by pirates (something like current hotspots) where it would make sense for me to go and try to join battles? or am i bound to wander the seas hoping to bump into targets of opportunity? it's a biggish map, i'd like to avoid the empty areas if possible.

2. i've been looking to join a pirate clan and been on contact with a few guys ingame. interestingly though there's little to no presentation on websites or in forum threads of these clans. i'd like to find out who they are and what they are up to. seemingly  many clans are out there but aren't even introduced in a clan-thread.

3. i still haven't seen a news section where current events and developments are presented. i do have the impression that nation/clan-activity happens primarily outside public view. people discuss battles as singular events and i have no idea how they actually managed to get into these engagements.

so here i am somewhat confused. i'm looking for pvp primarily, not ai-missions, and would like to focus my efforts.

any advice is appreciated.

and, of course, any pirate clan interested in hiring a motivated individual is welcome to pm me.

cheers.

Yarrr!

So, Sprog, ye be a new hand looking to go on the account? Ye found the right cap'n to help ye on yer way!

Prey ships. Yarr… right now yer going to find a lot of players that be using this fleet patch to prevent ye from doing real pyrate things, like stealing.

It be best if ye find herself a good Company to sail with, of ye won't have any luck picking off prey! (Hint: Think Captains of the Black Flag!)

Ifn ye see me bantering, have yer cabin boy give me a note, and ill offer ye up our accords, wot fer ye to ponder.

(translation; Welcome, new guy, to piracy! Send me a PM in game when I'm on global chat and ill give you joining information for your consideration)

Arr har har!

Welcome to the life of piracy!

You can see where there is conquest under the left side of the map, conquest information. However, with the way port battles are set up now, by the time you see it, you will be too late getting there to be a thorn in anyone's side. ;) This is planned to change with upcoming mechanics.

Ask in nation chat for a PVP group. Many pirate groups hang out at Freetowns, like Sunbury or Cabo Canaveral on the US coast or Lle Vache by Jamaica. US players are often found ganking near La Tortue, south of the pirate Capital. Server numbers have been low but it's fun to find a group to look for US around Mortimer & La Tortue.

Ausfc is always looking for players with a pvp focus.  just send a message in national chat a few times for an ausfc officer and they  will contact you.  I am on during the 8-18 timeslots and tend to be vocal in global/ national.

Welcome to the game and  take your time learning and getting to know the game. It has many features which are fabulous and the grind is the best part at the moment IMO.  Once you break out of the noobie missions and get into 6ths + the game can be great fun.

Welcome aboard matey! Yarrrr!

Perhaps I can help.

#1. - how to know where the action is.....nation chat, when it's not full of complainers, they call off potential targets and threats in the sea. Watch for port battles currently happening and ports recently changing hands. Both will have PvP around them and can be found from the "m" map conquest screen. If all else fails there are always targets around enemy capitals and the free cities closest to them.

#2. - pirate clans...we are not like nations. DO NOT assume all other pirates are friendly. As such your clan is more important as a pirate than it is as a national and there is no substitute for joining a good one. I myself am in The Black Sheep (TBS) and I do not recommend it for a beginner. We consider the "pirate code" more of a guideline and that tends to make a lot of enemies. But we never interfere with a pirate PB, we support them when we can and we always support all other pirates against a national. But if your in a cargo ship not being attacked by a national I can make no promises for your safety. That said, I can vouch for Anne Wildcat and SORRY us probably a good clan for a beginner. Also I see BLACK supporting team mates at MT all the time so I would think they are also very good. NA has a very good lot of Aussie players so if your in that time zone I would join them. I myself see the OFF clan doing some really good things so you might look them up as well.

#3. - news....unfortunately the game has very little support here. I would recommend joining a clan with an active website forum. The news section here in the official forums got out if control a few months back and the Devs shut it down. It's never really recovered and to be honest that might be a good thing.

Good luck to ye. Take what you can, give nuttin back!

Piracy is a state of "mind", a playstyle.

Do not get drawn into the notion of nation but also be a companion if a brother or sister is in need.

Live off the land.. I mean raids on trade... and keep infrastructure to a minimum. Rely on amount of loot to keep your chest full and do not sail what you cannot sustain - in the case of NA ships that are expensive to repair and that have too much crew.

Other than that... Explore the map, sail far and wide, open your piracy havens in the the free ports, one per nation territory and then... then... start the good life.

Take what you can and leave the rest for the fish.

Be careful when you send your cabin boy to Pete if you treasure the boys virginity.  ;)

We'll be hunting you most of the time south of Mortimer Town, or if you dare to enter the Dutch territories, we'll probably see you there!

Like people said, welcome to the game and I hope you will have a great time!
