I am sure by this time most of you has noted the enormous price of crew recruiting….

 

It seems that as in many other areas the game currently charges “maintenance” cost for life on initial cost …. But with the life expectancy of our crewmen we are in fact maintaining a century XVIII pension system who would pale current european welfare systems.

 

I am not (at least not here ) asking for a time consuming high detailed supply/maintenance (ammo, food, etc) but a simple change, charge a cost when arriving port proportional to crewmen and days sailing number. (if possible should be made with crew number at voyage start )

 

 

Making this change would also help control Fleets usage, as you only pay for crew you use it would be cheaper sailing alone… so not being wise having two frigates covering each movement of your trader snow…as it should be.

Crews, from officers to able sailors in navy were due:

 

- pay, regular

- prizes, irregular

 

It is hard to establish a ratio but i'd say it would 1 to 50, taking on the low and the highest ( highest is about 1 to 400 ).

 

This pay plus prizes would amount to 4 times more than the cost of the ship during the lifetime of the ship.

 

Without reducing this what can be done ?

 

- lifetime pay on hire and prize money pay on reaching port ?

 

Now the question... what if I don't have enough treasure ? Do my crew pool drops ?

 

This could be an idea.
