i guess what you whant to say ... is they are not nerfed to death enough .... what is left to go ... give pirates boats without sails ... to make it fair for you ?

are you realy that crappy as player?

To be honest, I would prefer other ideas to make playing Pirate an Ultimate-Expert-Level than adding AI fleets. At least, I don't like AI fleets anyway.

Things like morale malus when fighting warships and a bonus when fighting traders. Less labour houres, because Pirates don't like hard work. Limit ships to 4th rate max. Deny port battles but allow plundering ports. Maybe some special officer skills while other skills are limited to regular nations officers.

I'm sure that Pirates are one of the easiest fractions to play at the moment - but it was introduced as the hardest one by far.

So finally I would say the question isn't about me whether I'm a crappy player or not, but maybe about you whether you are the Ultimate-Expert-Level-God you should be to play Pirate.

Okay I don't get it,I sailed since the patch was released yesterday morningI have not received a single bottle dropped And know I have fished constantly since the patch.  Others have received 3 or 4 an hour.   It seems to be location dependent.  No drops near the US harbors  but plenty in the Caribbean. And while were on the subject of drops.  I have achieved level 44 in crafting skill And only now got a single Constitution blueprint after I don't know how many tries.

You have to fix the blueprints drop rates on crafting gold ships.  It took me 2 Months to get the Constellation blueprints, And that's way too long to get one set of prints.  Allow me to reiterate  this game rewards players for not playing it in the form of accumulated crafting hours.  You should be able to purchase your crafting hours.  In addition to accumulating them.  Naturally up to your maximum per day.

Okay, might...

Defeats the purpose of "one Pirate captain one ship one crew"playstyle but hell... will sit tight and wait for drastic changes.

Cheers.

Do I like AI fleets? Nope.

Do I like idea of hunting and being hunter? Yup.

Do I understand why some part of players wants AI fleets and find them helpful? Yup.

Do I understand why it create possibilities for messing arround with AI in PB`s etc and do I like it? Yup i understand and i dont like it.

Is there way to live with AI fleets during solo hunting for traders? Yup. It`s not perfect and tbh mediorce imo, but there are ways to work it!

People should play a bit and see how it works.

Loosing crew hurts.

Loosing ships hurts.

Loosing officers may hurt.

Is hunthing viable? Yes.

Is it harder atm? Definatly yes!

Is it more boring? Sadly, yes. But its still doable and definatly i`ll have more pleasure after catching my target :) But its me.

Cheers o7

easiest faction? pirates played just like every other nation until this patch. literally the same in all mechanics.

Now, pirates got a severe nerf by introducing the 20% reload perk against them, making it impossible to fight even fights as a pirate.

Without any other pirate-mechanics being introduced. So basically, pirates are down to pve or going for heavy ganks now.

I don't really tink this is the right way to take. As long as pirates are not completely reworked, they should just be handled like all other nations gameplay wise (and yes i know that right now it is easiest to join pirates, with the advantage of keeping your blueprints. But thats actually the only difference right now)

I think this too and already have started my new way of piracy. Like the few others who played like a solo pirate on the high seas chasing down his victim ive now found myself with 2 choices. 1. Make my own fleet of ai and turn every raid into a mini fleet battle ( stupid AF and i dont want to do it ) 2. Attempt to stop and capture the enemy ship while being shot by ai then spend the next hour sinking the horrible ai that is nothing more than a pain in the ass. BOTH of these are unacceptable.

This is my new way andbi tried it last night. I find my victim, his fleet, attack then offer this message. Dismiss your ai and surrender your ship. Follow me to port and i will give back your ship and some cargo. If you do not i will sink your ship, kill your crew and officer and then kill your ai ships and crew in order to inflict not only the loss of cargo but the loss of all ships and crew that are now a small fortune to relpace.

So far no takers , but i got good xp and gold for the easy kills and eventually they will go broke replacing crews and be back to 1 ship.

Any pirates know a better way at piracy for the moment?

There is a great, unmentioned feature in this patch: you can transfer prize crew to a captured ship in battle, adding it to your fleet and allowing you to command the AI prize crew to escape. No more being denied a prize because an enemy is alive somewhere in the instance. Now, I tested this without an AI fleet in tow, so I don't know if bringing along AI will block you from adding a ship in an instance.

  • Sealed bottle drop rate slightly lowered - captains were not supposed to catch 2-3 bottles per day  :)

if you already have a fleet with you. you will have to pick the one you want to keep

but you can add a ship to fleet right in battle - then repair its hull and crew by repair and medkits and be free to sail further

and yes.. you can rage board, and escape with a prize :)

muahahahaha! ;)

 ...

There were/are two things (maybe some more) that give the Pirates an advantage that regular nations don't have:

1) Switch to Pirate side.

2) Pirates can attack each other in order to escape in OW

Pirates were introduced as an extremely challenging fraction for very experienced players. Today it's far away from that. Now, to achieve that goal the devs have to change a lot of things.

I agree with you, just nerf the pirates won't help. What we need are some things that only pirates have and some things that only regular nations have.

At least I would prefer a hard to play, challenging Pirate fraction that is designed for the experts.

Is there any chance you can call "medkits" something else? It hurts my heart to see this used in game like it is a real word. Why are Repair Kits not "repairkits"? Answer: it would be an obvious nonsense word. How about instead "Medical Kits," or even better "Surgeon's Stores"?

One thing I noticed after the patch was that my battle map "m" no longer remembered which ship I was tracking last. Each time I flipped to the battle map it would be moved back onto my own ship and I would have to retarget it. Not a huge issue but an annoying one. Was this planned to be changed this way?

Sealed bottle drop rate slightly lowered - captains were not supposed to catch 2-3 bottles per day

This captain sailed to the 4 corners and back, in a snow storm, against the wind and caught a rock!

Yeah no kidding! I didn't catch a single bottle!

great after you have ruined the pirates you allso reduce the bottle drop ... and nothing of the important stuff fixed ... useless hotfix

i guess il play again when you have fixed that pile of shit

switch off the fleets switch off the officer and the game is fixed again

Devs, keep on the track you're going.  You're doing a great job with the upgrades and the hotfixes.  ;)  And screw such naysayers who have nothing positive to say or any constructive input whatsoever.

I didn't see the item listed in the 9.91 hotfix that addresses the bug with pre-patch hired fleet cutters and lynxes.  Was that included here as well (as indicated in the other thread questioning it) ?

Now fix the BS 20% reload speed that stacks with other mods to make a 40% reload speed bonus and we will be good

Agreed, as an underdog faction on PvP2 this perk puts us at a very significant disadvantage in nearly every combat situation. The use of our valuable ships and upgrades has to stop until the perk is removed or heavily reduced.

Crew costs!

Just did a 152 fleet mission in my Essex & my fleet of 2 Belle's ... here's the after battle profit/loss result's;

1) Essex: 6 kills, 2 Assists

2) Belle #1: 1 assist

3) Belle #2: 1 assist, 1 capture

Revenue

1) Damage & Kills:       108,311

2) Mission Comp:             5,000

3) Total Revenue         113,311

Expenses

1) Repairs:                       8,393

2) Replacement Crew   153,000

3) Total Expenses        161,393

Profit/Loss                   (48,082)

OK I like the idea of having my own little fleet but given that they are prone to doing dumb things (like capturing ships & losing 3/4 of their crew),  and now the cost of crew replacement I don't think I can afford to use them.  Yesterday after about 7 or 8 battles I ended the day with about 400k less than I started with and that was with a winning record!

I don't want to sink the AI. I want to pirate his hold :)

hethwill, you are awesome. <tiphat> keep doing what you do.

Devs, the recruitment crew costs per member have to be lowered (-40%) or the gold rewards increased cause we are loosing money due to crew loses in battles.

hope they leave it expensive. craft the repair kits and med kits.

I also don't see a response or anything in the notes about crafting prices. I just checked and they are the same as they were before. Tobacco is sold by producing ports by a (ludicrous) 500ea, while crafting it at a plantation also costs 500ea (2000 for 4). Sugar is in a similar situation. As far as I can tell, every other craftable resource has a lower unit cost for crafting, even food supplies (100ea for crafting vs 250ea for port purchase) than production ports do.

I'm left wondering if this is intentional or not.

I agree, the AI default of "get in close and board" is rather silly when they're too close or even outmatched in cew strength...but since you can order your fleet around, maybe try not leaving them on free mode and instead issue more specific orders like Destroy or Demast? Even have them retreat if they start taking a beating...
