Xenutheeviloverlord Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Since it seems the singleplayer campaign will not be multi capable here are a few things the AI needs to be able to do if you want a life-like AI Use cannons offensively, keep them in the line or lead them in the advance so that they can use explosive shells and canister to soften enemy (your) defenses. Use terrain (hills, valleys) effectively in order to hide troops, hide movement, avoid long range artillery fire. AI doesn't use videttes effectively, human players always use them in hit/run tactics, especially against cannons in the rear, but union AI just make them stand there and bite entire volleys instead of actively scouting and harassing. AI doesn't retreat or pullback its line troops ever, even though they are taking unnecessary casualties or will quickly break in their current situation.
Nick Thomadis Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Use cannons offensively, keep them in the line or lead them in the advance so that they can use explosive shells and canister to soften enemy (your) defenses. The most crucial improvement of the coming patch for AI. Use terrain (hills, valleys) effectively in order to hide troops, hide movement, avoid long range artillery fire. AI will do that much more often. Divide forces to hills, wait there with cannons and then coordinate attacks. AI doesn't use videttes effectively, human players always use them in hit/run tactics, especially against cannons in the rear, but union AI just make them stand there and bite entire volleys instead of actively scouting and harassing. Yes this will be fixed too. No longer will the videttes/skirmishers do Kamikaze attacks but will harass very annoyingly as a human player. AI doesn't retreat or pullback its line troops ever, even though they are taking unnecessary casualties or will quickly break in their current situation. AI will continue to decide when it is necessary to make a tactical withdraw but more intelligently.
Zelekendel Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Since it seems the singleplayer campaign will not be multi capable here are a few things the AI needs to be able to do if you want a life-like AI What? You mean you read that there will not be a multiplayer campaign game, ever? That would be a grave disappointment of the highest caliber - that's the one I'm waiting for most of all for this game. You don't need to make it so that it's somehow locked to two specific players - you could just let other players join in freely. And if the decision points between battles are a problem then just leave it for the host to make as in SP for starters so we can at least play.
MikeK Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Just letting us play through the camaign tree multiplayer would be fun, and much easier to manage than a multiplayer dynamic 4-day campaign.
