Hi captains,

First of all, I would like to thank personaly the development team for all the work they have done on this great game, this is just brillant !

I don't know if there will be a final release reset concerning Naval Action in the next months.

Devs have already said that only the experience will not be touched if it has to happen.

So if our experience can be save, can you do this for all the ingame assets ? (Exceptional random modules unlocked by chance like the powder monkey and others, the highest blueprints which have taken months to be learned like the pavel, vic and santi...)

So here is my question : If the servers have to get wiped at the end, can you simply transfer all the data in a temporary server during the procedure and finally transfer ("copy-paste") everything on the original servers once done ? Or anything else to save it ?

Best regards !

there is not going to be an asset wipe at launch as far as i am aware, while no guarantee the devs have done the best not to do any asset wipes.

As much as i am going to hate grinding to RA for the 5th or 6th time everyone should start at zero on release.

Why? Naval Action is available to everybody now.

EA games being released never is that much of a big thing.

If there is a wipe at launch, this would probably not be for technical or practical purposes, but for gameplay purposes. It would be because people buying the game at launch would maybe not expect to meet players already at maximum rank when they start playing.

Personally I wouldn't be opposed to a total wipe of everything at launch, but I understand that people don't want to loose all that they have grinded.

Devs have stated on these forums that craft level and rank will NOT be wiped.

I think an asset wipe is fine, painful as it will be, coming to PVP1 from PVP2 has shown to be very interesting, like walking into battle with a nerf gun and swiss army knife.  Tough at first, but cooperation with friends setting a base of operations, supply corridors, and grinding together has been a lot of fun.

I agree BUT every new people have to deal with it like I do and you as well (before/after).

And the game is now available on steam, everyone have access to it so I think there is no reason for an asset wipe at launch "on purpose" of course.

This is just my personal opinion...

As a relative newbie to the forums, I think an asset wipe would make sense. For gameplay reasons. Plus, would it really be either fun or fair, or in the interests of the game as a whole, to run around beating up on the new folks with not only your experience but equipment that is orders-of-magnitude better? I also think it will be fun to start on an empty slate in terms of equipment.

But, it makes sense to let everyone keep their rank, XP, etc. If nothing else, it's a "thank you" to everyone helping with the testing, and a public statement to all of the new players at release of the time you've put in. And, it would be a mess of trying to reconstitute clans and whatnot if there were to be a complete wipe.

So much have changed so much will change that having to restart the naval careers or going out as a pirate nobody would once more be beneficial imo.

So many ranking up was made in pve with captured junk 3rd and undercrewed flotillas...

Yes a lot has changed and would be interesting to see, as a whole, if they really work regarding the ranking.

I'm certainly not an economics major, but wouldn't wiping assets make things even worse for new players in a lot of ways? The prices on so many goods were more outrageous following EA than I think they are now. I know if my gold were to be wiped I'll be charging a whole lot more for crafting lower level ships than I might otherwise be doing since I will need more money. Nobody expects for the economy to be reset every few months to account for new players who join....If I were to start playing Guild Wars 2 I'd be coming into a world where people have tons of money and I have none. This is the case with everyone who decides to try out a MMO who were not around during its release. Heck, we have new people join NA now and they come in with nothing.....I just don't see how our relatively small current playerbase would have a negative impact on the game world if players kept their assets. If anything it might allow clans to help recruit new players and help them financially.

Here we go again.

The only official word is we keep XP for rank and craft because it is stored in steam not in the game server.

The design team will give warning if and when they do a reset.

So why speculate what may or may not happen until there is something official announced?

I don't think it will make much differences. Most of us playing now already know the best / fastest ways to make money, and since crafting XP will remain, we'll be able to churn out new ships with ease. It might take a week, but before you know it, existing end / near end ranked players will be back in high tier ships.

Asset wipe would simply serve as an inconvenience to existing players IMO.

Edit: On reflection, what might change this is if learnt BP's are also wiped.
