(PVP servers)

It might be just me ... and I am not a tremendously computer oriented individual .. but with a world wide active game ... having different servers would seem optimum for better overall play. Not only do you have regional fluctuations with online attendance per the current (who is awake?), but also the technological capabilities (Ping rates) of the areas in regards to the server locations.

I for one, would prefer to play with a less than "+/- 6 hour" time frame from the server location. Albeit, that encompasses 1/2 of the Planet (12 hours, from east to west - or vice versa). That's still quite a few potential players.

2+ servers seems to be the relative norm for cross-globe accessible games. To me it not only helps in allowing players to play more effectively (Lower pings) ... but within their own time zones. Thus you don't have a plethora of activity when only one faction is on. Due to areas where a  "REAL nations" players (choose country of your choice) only populate a certain in-game nationality, and then dominate the game when they MASS log-on.

I know this game is still in development, but when it goes "LIVE", I believe it will be necessary to have multiple servers available, not only for potential volume, but also for effective playability.

(PVE server)

Also, if I may .. I am not sure of what will transpire with the PVE server, but I would HOPE that it will not be merged/deleted or removed. That one server provides a foundation to which newer players can learn more of the mechanics of the game, without fear of retribution or loss. (Training ground) Which is something that this game seems to need - given there are not any in-game modules to help you learn the do's and dont's of gameplay.

Im in line with your thinking as well for the same reasons. Plus with the north and south american player base being smaller ( as in most games) than the euro/russian player base most game and map decisions will be dictated by the EU players. Maybe thats the intent i dont know .

On the other hand there is a big BIG problem with pvp2 and that is for months rumors and subtle "hints" have been made ( even by admin ) that pvp2 is going to get merged and every time this happens pvp2 loses mass numbers who jump the gun. Between this and the people from pvp1 asking players to join thier server and get free stuff to do it the pvp2 server just cant get its population up.

I think admin should offer people the chance to go back to pvp2 and bring thier stuff over or let us play both servers with same stuff.

I know our opionions on this are not popular but i just wanted to voice my op.

Yep, players jumping the gun, and for no real reason other than to have gold and ships sooner than the later jumpers. Rather ridiculous to me. And the PvP1 players trying to entice PvP2 players is simply because players are leaving their nation to join another. So the enticers are just trying to refill their numbers. Again...ridiculous. Because I've not seen the exact words from admins that PvP2 will merge with PvP1, I will stay and do my best to entice others to stay as well, with ideas like PvP2 Player Bounties and the upcoming Weekly 1812 I'm trying to help organize.

68 people on at primetime when I logged on pvp2 last night and it's just a continuation of a trend. I would imagine most were pveing, staring at port screen while trolling chat or taking empty ports.

Once they rework port battles, rvr, and diplomacy it maybe port flags, server time, and port windows are a moot point. Hopefully.

Individual server populations are not very relevant when the trend on all servers is the same.  If one were going down all the while another were going up that would be different.  Additionally, that's how statistics are twisted by people, by quoting a single number in a single instance when that is part of a much larger big picture; that's dishonest to say the least.  But there are numerous threads and individual posts about the same trend everywhere.  There is no benefit to merging the two servers now, creating upheaval which will cause more people to take a break or leave.  And in the end, as stated above, finding the need to re-create the server which was abolished.  For what?  Just leave it, and gain the testing insight from two different worlds rather than one, which does have benefit.

It is unfortunate that pvp1 was borrowing players from pvp2 and that all the announcements about a potential merge has lead to players moving from pvp2 to pvp1 or not playing (taking a break) as the numbers dwindle.  I enjoyed the tight knit community of pvp2.

The release of the politics and war content and map wipe (?) will be a natural time to merge the 2 servers into one.

anyways patiently waiting..because I LOVE this game!

We need to mount our own campaign to get players from pvp1 to come back. Something like " are you sick of tje pirates owning the map ? Then come to pvp2 where YOU can make a difference! "

UNless your in a area with complete crap ISP ping should not be an issue in this game... It isn't like a Twitch FPS...  I live in Western US play online wih Euros, Russians and Aussies and no one seems to have Ping issues that cant be traced back to their ISP locally

When I first joined pvp2 the nightly population was around 1100. The USA was dominating the North the Pirates were dominating the East and the Brits the West. PvP was right outside the port, easy to find and dynamic. Then as players settled into max level and RvR became more and more about battles only against towers the population started to shrink. At 400 population and amid merger rumors our clans either moved to pvp1 early or opted to wait for the merge and RvR changes.

So I went to pvp1. It was around 800 players at USA prime time. PvP was good but RvR still seem d to be drifting into empty tower battles. Just slower than it took pvp2 to get there. More players drifting into taking a break until the merges or RvR changes once the pop dropped to 400. This week the pop on pvp1 at North American time has been a steady 150-200. PvP is still good but isolated to only a few spots. RvR is mostly dead compared to months ago.

PvP2 hold outs you are wasting your time clinging on. At 150 pop pvp1 is just as much a close knit group as your 68 pop. There are 8 nations. You have to enough for 8 men/nation. So your not server wide testing anything effectively. We have enough to for 20men/nation so we aren't either. RvR is essentially dead on both servers. Neither of these two servers are going to make it to August when the RvR patch finally comes out. If the players on break aren't getting the RvR upgrade then they may as well get the merge. All your going to get us by clinging to the sinking ship of pvp2 is both servers sunk before August. I can sympathize with all your comments above. They sound great but they aren't for the reality we're in. Let it go. Come join us on pvp1 and we'll both move forward. There isn't enough players on pvp1 for your ping to suck that bad that it effects a game this slow.

However...The last 3 nights we have had full PBs on both teams. 120 players on PvP2 during USA primetime is practically the same as 150 on PvP1 at USA primetime. And just think...had 100 of our server players not jumped ship, we'd be well beyond the PvP1 150 players. The reason to hang on is for steady ping. Nothing makes a player quit a game more than having horrible ping rates and massive ping spikes.

I will wait, there is plenty of PvP here...we just have to find it. Perhaps PvP1 people need to stop recruiting our server...or come back. I've still yet to see the devs say specifically "PvP2 is merging into PvP1." Once the server closes, then we will leave.

That is supposed to be a Regional capital port battle. La Gross Ventures, cutters and Connie? Your still not realistically testing anything.

We had just left a non-regional at St Nic and had no time to change ships...and the LGV came for the booty after battle. makes no sense for port wins to give you way more goods than any warship in the game can hold...it's just ridiculous.

You didn't just leave a non- regional with a Santi, 3 Pavels and a half dozen 3rds. But let's say you did. With that mix mashed fleet of crap half the guns in the field can not even penetrate the armor on the ships that actually belong in that battle. The sailing characteristics are also all off for what fleets we would expect in that contest. So it's still not realistically testing anything.

If you time 2 PBs with one being a last minute buy of the 2nd flag, then yes, you will have a mix-match of ships. 1-3rd rates left from La Tortue before the St Nic battle ended, at which point the St Nic group had to catch up with the Jeremie group before the battle timer closed. Things like this happen often when you make multiple attacks within the same port window. And, about testing, it also happens often that we use a small fleet of connies, frigs (and sometimes even a rattler) will gang up on 1-3rds, demasting, graping, then stealing the ship. When we can pull it off in a PB, it's even better and more fun.

But simply about test methods, as you see there were 2 AI cutters in there. Why would someones fleet AI be allowed in larger PBs, yet players in cutters are not. Something is wrong with the fleet mechanics that allows AI to join PBs in wrong ship types. Altho, I personally believe that the only ships that should not be allowed in particular PBs would be the deep hulls shouldn't be allowed in shallows. And that any shallow hull should be allowed in any PB. I expect once land is introduced into PBs that all ships will be allowed in all PBs, but that deep hulls won't be allowed in certain sections of the PB map. (That is my wish)

So what have you tested in your PBs?
