Here it comes, the latest in ganking strategies ladies and gentlemen!

Belle Pulle with longa cannons and Frigate with carronades approach.

They tag and create the first battle.

The frigates escapes.

Someone else escapes to go catch the frigate.

The BP meanwhile keeps everyone tagged from safe distance until the new frigate battle is closed, then escapes and sits in battle screen waiting for the frigate to maul the unfortunate ship.

That's not the point... this game is becoming all about tags. If your tag strategy works you can do whatever you want and this is abused.

Yeah the tagging sucks, reno's were running and tagging for a whole battle and wouldnt do any real damage, its just a time wasting tactic also, maybe the thresehold needs to be increased and the attack circle reduced so more battles happen and all those being timer wasters need to get more damage to keep players in battle

Ooo, this reminds me of a nursery rhyme I heard when I was a wee young-un!  Let's see, I think it went a little something like this:

Three big bad brittles chased two little frenchies south of Port Morant,

The Constitution, Trincomalee, and a Frigate get in a scuffle with the Frigate and the Belle Poule,

Unsatisfied with the 3v2 odds, the Frigate (in true Frenchie fashion) abandons his ally to near certain death,

Little did he know the big bad brittles were greedy for both.

The Exceptional Constitution (who had Oak and Coal in his hold) chases the scared little frenchie onto the OW,

Attacks the outgunned and outmanned French Frigate and commits him to a battle to the death.

Meanwhile, the brittles in the 2v1 suddenly become frightened of their overwhelming odds against the little Belle Poule,

So they turn tail and flee, wanting only to kick the little frenchies in the company of their Constitution,

But the Belle Poule will have none of that bullying, and refuses to let the little brittles go.

Undeterred by the big bad brittle in the 1v1, the brave little Frigate captain proceeds to show the now scared little

brittle the finer points of combat in Naval Action.  Once the big bad brittle realizes that his little bed fellows declined

to join him, he proceeded to flee as fast as he could.  Too bad the bad little Frenchie set his stern on fire, culminating

in the now salty little brittle blowing up and allowing the now happy little Frenchie the chance to save his new prize from sinking and fiery death.

I agree. A damage threshold to be able to keep the target in instance should be applied to prevent the potential griefing issues.

if you decide to go out alone. Who are you to blame but yourself.

I know its rubbish. But if you are in such a situation - dont go out alone.

Or if so. wait in the combat endscreen.

Even if it takes ages to be out all together. Its better than getting ganked.

the tag mechanics work very good in my opinion.

If you are smart on the OS you can get away from everybody - or you can succesfully gank someone.

All you have to do is keep your situational awareness on the OS. Sail together. Dont be impatient.

I think tagging is rather ok.

Else it can turn to, combat, OW, combat, OW, combat, OW...

Maybe the ships should spawn closer to each other, reinforcements included.  It is the long tagging and waiting the others, that makes the tagging so important, and the chase to be rather boring.  Then after 1h of tagging the battle finally starts.

Choice made by player. Circumvented by not making this choice and staying in the battle to focus the Belle. Frigate cannot re-enter battle. Now you have the gank.

Sorry dude, but I don't see a problem here.

The elephant in the room everyone ignoring is that small and fast ships being able to attack multiple slow and big ships from long distance to keep them in battle, which is called griefing.

The (gankee) Frigate did not wait for his mates to be at the battlescreen. Always come out together.

Lesson learn. Case closed. :P

i know it's rly hard to understand for some people but setting up more and more restrictions to prevent the oh so mean boogeyman called 'ganking' will only make the game more boring and predictable to a point where clans have to beg ppl in global for fights cause OW PvP was made impossible by a handful of vocal whiners which only understand that they got ganked and NOT why they were ganked or refuse to admit to themselves that they didn't pay any attention..

If I could make up the rules I would allow everyone into every battle no matter the numbers or how much time has alrdy progressed in an ongoing PvP/NPC fight.. The only restriction I find reasonable is that people which jump in shouldn't be allowed to spawn right next to the other ships which are alrdy in combat.. Would be up to the players to spot sails on the horizon or not..

If ganking is really that hard to deal with, we've to ditch OW pvp altogether and go back to potbs red zone style pvp..

It was a 2 French vs 3 Brits - the Brits are qqing - not the French.  I told my friend to jump out of battle to make it even as I was in a Belle Polle and they were in a Consti, Trinc, and  a Frig.  He did and the Consti jumped to tag him - I kept the Trinc and the Frig in battle with me until the timer closed and my friend in the Frig capped the Consti - French are happy and Brits are still qqing and calling this a gank!

The elephant can be shot by implementing appropriate Admiralty awards. You only get them if you follow the appropriate Articles of War... always and not only it is convenient.

Success means great reward. Failure to follow them will result in dropping a rank... or 2...
