Magnum Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 If the players in their "home waters" had some sort of advantage in PvP combat reinforcement - it would make taking ports to expand ones home waters a good thing. --- Suppose the "join timer" in country X's home waters allowed any other country and pirates the usual 2 min join timer - but Country X players get support for 5 min. This would model the notion that Nation X Captains would be more common in the home waters and would join to chase off a gank fleet for the entire time of the fight. It would add reason to increase the size of ones "home waters" - which could only be done by conquering adjoining ports. --- It would also naturally reduce the griefing by gank squads right outside a Capitol - or other large group of ports. Many thanks to Bjerg Bjergsson for the idea. 4
Ledinis Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Wouldn't even need adding advantages if freeports, that are 15 mins sail away wouldn't harbor 25k enemy warships in them
Ronald Speirs Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Realistically you would see battles on the open world they wouldnt disappear and then have these players appear to pop up out of nowhere, PvP should be another colour from standard AI battles and they should stay on the map, if gankers go in to enemy territory they should expect their victim to have backup be arriving, i always expect it when i head to enemy territory, and its quite exciting to try and escape the superior number of ships camping outside in all directions, sometimes i get away other times its bye bye, but i expect this and take a throw away ship. It should provide an advantage in having territory if its extended join timers or and extended circle to be able to join from. As for Free towns should be trade hubs and not allow docking and outposts for warships, outposts should be different from warehouses. 2
