Baron Von WeisenCracker Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 I will be the first to admit I know NOTHING about how computers operate outside of turning it on, and pulling the plug out of the wall to get it to stop. That said .... if I had multiple accounts on either of the PVP servers (Ex: both on PVP1; French and Pirate) .. would they share the same IP address? Or would each computer (or laptop) have a different addy, if both are logged into the game, at the same time? Thanks, -Yank Note: the "pulling plug" thing was a bit of sarcasm .. I know you only need to disconnect the monitor from the computer to get the screen to shut off. (gotcha, again!)
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 You mean I couldn't play with the young'uns from my home, as they share the same public address. And yes we all would disconnect. Different Steam accounts though. Same as ALTs do.
Baron Von WeisenCracker Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Nah I am just trying to ponder how it would be possible to prevent ONE player from playing 2 (or more) accounts at the same time in the same server. Case in point. Caught 2 Brits running East coast last night. Chased one for almost 30 minutes. In our nation chat I kept giving updates as to his location and course. And each time I did - he immediately changed course. But, only after I mentioned his heading. At one point, I chased him for almost 5 minutes without chatting.. to wit there were no course changes.. Then I give an update and placed in his location to alert folks further down the coast, so as to intercept him more easily and "WHAM!" .. he changes course as soon as the message hits the chat. This happened 7-8 times. each time immediately after I posted his position and course. I can see where banning multiple accounts from being online at the same time, IP address, might affect multi-gamer households. But when 1 person is the only person playing, and he has multiple accounts up and running, then there is something broken somewhere. 1
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 You can't tell the difference i'm affraid. And in regards of exploiting it I totally support your position ( the mermaids are my witness, but I really despise power gamers ). But alas it is impossible to do anything unless the culprit openly brags or someone catches him bragging and even then had to know his specific Steam accounts, etc, yada yada, and so on. It is two Steam accounts, each with its own game account. Pretty much the same as two people from the same household play the same game.
Baron Von WeisenCracker Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Yeah ... I would just love to play on an even field for once. OP gankers. OP hackers. OP whatevers. I buy a game, and try to have fun at it.. but when the mods/hacks/abuses start taking over... its time to find a new game. Cheers, Note: I am not "there" (finding new game) ..... yet! Whoever Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Yeah ... I would just love to play on an even field for once. OP gankers. OP hackers. OP whatevers. I buy a game, and try to have fun at it.. but when the mods/hacks/abuses start taking over... its time to find a new game. Cheers, Note: I am not "there" (finding new game) ..... yet! I am with you, over the couple of months many players had admitted to having multiple accounts, on different servers, same server. I know I chappy that has 3 accounts. lol i suppose the dev's dont care they sold 3 more games.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 Devs cannot control it by any legal means unless it is an EULA breach ( which covers a copy individually ). Alas not even Steam can control it by any legal means unless it is a breach to the contract. Happens to all games that deal with risk/reward afaik. You wouldn't believe the amount of multiple ALTs in DayZ, which kind of broke it in some servers, as death ceased to be a problem and multiple accounts players always had stashes hidden with full gear ready.
