Suggestion / Idea

Trading Post - Small places of no national affiliation that you can dock at to buy/sell/trade.

Trading posts would consist of a dock only, there is no harbor so you cannot repair your ship there (Maybe buy repair kits? Price markup on repair kits?)

Other restrictions:

  • Can't build an outpost
  • Can't teleport
  • Can't buy conquest flags
  • Can't build buildings or player-owned property (like crafting buildings)

Trading posts could be hidden on the world map and up to the players to discover for themselves.

Perks of a Trading Post :

  • All nations/factions can dock there
  • Unique market items for market trade (Point A to Point B sales)
  • Can't be captured
  • Variety of modules/items to sell and trade?
  • Rent a storage house (Like owning a warehouse but smaller and for items only)

If you wanted to take that Trading post idea a step further and make it more complex you can make the trading posts respawn and change location weekly such as like "every Monday maintenance" or something. This will get players out searching and exploring the map and the rewarding thrill of finding these hidden treasures. Such as if there were 5 or 6 Trading posts on the map but 20 or 30 possible locations that they rotate through.

This idea needs more work and elaboration by the community, but I like it already!

I think it would lead to a healthy OW mechanics
