surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 There are more and more of them out there... the other night it was like a freakin' reptile zoo between KPR and Pedro Cay, there were so many Rattlesnakes out. How are people liking the ship? I just crafted my first, and I'm stoked beyond words. This ship is going to make an amazing privateer!! The speed is incredible. Pure love from me. 2
GrapeShot Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I've built 3 of them for clan mates. They quite like them. Make a good tag ship. 1
prreich1 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I capped an AI for a test drive yesterday and I loved it!! Really fast and nimble, and yet packs a nice punch. With the chasers she's perfect for tagging
Pada Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Yes i love it, but be aware of the 7 leaks of doom put some extra pumps on when fighting bigger ships. 1
Smithy Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I capped an AI for a test drive yesterday and I loved it!! Really fast and nimble, and yet packs a nice punch. With the chasers she's perfect for tagging how did you manage that? 1
Lonar Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) It looks good but i really dont understand the use of the Rattlesnake or better its spot ingame. Edited May 24, 2016 by Lonar
Bommel Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) how did you manage that? I guess he means he took his RS out for a ride and capped an AI with it. Edited May 24, 2016 by Bommel 1
surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 It looks good but i really dont understand the use of the Rattlesnake or better its spot ingame. Capping traders is Job 1 for the Rattlesnake, IMHO. It's the best privateer in the game so far, in terms of its speed, weatherliness, agility and crew capacity. As a die-hard privateer, it's the ship I've been waiting for. 3
surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) how did you manage that? I assume this means he fought an AI Rattlesnake, boarded it, captured it, and then sailed it around to check it out before the battle instance timed out. Edited May 24, 2016 by Sansón Carrasco
surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) is her best PoS like broad reach? I've only sailed mine for a moment, but it seems like it. She was surprisingly weatherly, too. Mine came out really nice, with built-in Speed (along with Crew Space, since she'll be my privateer) and 3/5 upgrades. Woootywoot! I'll be putting Copper Plating on her, of course, and some other upgrades TBD. Edited May 24, 2016 by Sansón Carrasco 1
Quineloe Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Why were there front chasers added to it when it didn't have any the days before the patch? It seems a little too good a ganking ship now.
OTMatt Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I think it's the first ship where a beginner or privateer(lonewolves) can act independent of clans and gank groups when going out to find pvp opportunities. Fast to avoid gank fleets while being able to choose who to fight is truly what a privateer is made for. We really need more ships that are capable of this. 6
surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 We really need more ships that are capable of this. The actual Privateer is not bad in terms of getting away from gankers by sailing upwind, but its horrible downwind performance makes it of very limited usefulness for hunting traders, almost all of which can easily run away downwind from it. Which means it's extremely difficult to use in its eponymous role. The Rattlesnake, on the other hand, should prove quite capable in this regard. It's also going to be an excellent escort for trade ships, too, and is its own natural counter in that sense. 9.8 really is proving to be the "Privateer's Patch", even if the damage model stuff is sort of overshadowing this fact. 2
Ruthless4u Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Sigh What are its stats? Crew etc. Only 2 1/2 more months

Lonar Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Problem with this ship is it can nothing another ship cant for example the Trinc is in my eyes in every way better then the Rattlesnake, its maybe not as fast but it is faster then almost all her oponents and it has front chasers to and in the end it can fight ... and Privateering is a nice thing but since you need to sail back with the captured ship after every fight i dont see it useful here either if it had enough cargo capacity yes but so ...
Guest Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I love the Rattlesnake. She's so damn fast and agile on the rudder so that she could "dance" with her back like a Yacht

Sounds like you have the right ship for your playstyle... I like sailing back the captured ship and all the other stuff involved in privateering, and for that, the Rattlesnake is looking like she'll prove to be pretty awesome. I'm stoked.
