I just tire of being ambushed/ganked by pier hugging seal clubbing OP players.

   * a tall ship is hard to hide

*Revised: after talking with some friends about this.....

Easy fix.....

    1) Already in place - 1st time exit from port to OW, 30  sec invulnerability and free to re-enter immediately, without fear of being attacked.

          * again, already in place

         - Hence if threat is seen, you can easily retreat to the safety of the port and try to relocate (teleport) somewhere else

   2) however, if you try to re-enter the OW within 30 minutes from the SAME port, I am asking that there should be a cool-down period, where

that, you are now committed in the OW, for 2+ minutes before you can re-enter again. NO more prairie dogging!

This covers the invisibility cloak,  invulnerability cloak. And establishes a real risk for those who choose to operate in enemy waters.

*ok, invisibility cloak is gone -- saw that last night.

Why? so to prevent and stop the prairie dogging tactic and makes the sailor commit to the game. yeah sure, pop out of port the first time to check whats about .. and pop back in port, immediately, if there are threats nearby (and tele to another location).... but pop out a 2nd, 3rd 4th......25th time, is a bit much - if all you have to do is hit the enter button to escape being attacked. A 2+ minute cool down, should be enough time for an attacker to initiate combat, without the worry of the emerging vessel jumping back into port before the battle timer counts down.

so I will clarify this easy process: Exiting port

1st time -  can re-enter port immediately  ( no cool down period)

2nd time (if within 30 minutes of 1st time) - cannot enter port for 2+ minutes (I say 2+, just so a cool down time can be established: but so that its greater than any invulnerability factor by at least 4X. And a 30 minute window, so now the dogger has to make a really important decision! Are they still out there? Is it safe to reappear? 30 minutes is a LONG time to wait, to reset.

Respectfully,

-Yank

addn: just to add to the realism a bit... most ships of larger status had to wait their turn to enter/leave port. There wasn't always dock space available. So why should someone be able to just set sail-dock-set sail-dock-set sail-dock repeatedly? sooner or later the townsfolk will just cut their lines!

The whole point of the timers as they stand is to give players like you the chance to return to port if enemies are immediately outside.

Well, I would prefer a change so that if you get visible -- you can be tagged. If not 2-3 minutes cool down, then make it a "if you get tagged" you cant enter port --period. The targets we had were so close to the port entrance, that once you tagged them, they jumped into port before the 18 sec battle countdown. Something needs to change. It doesn't take much skill to sit on top of a pier and gank a target or run (enter port) at the first sign of retribution. They are in a no-lose setting. Just sit and wait for unsuspecting passerbys' -- attack them .. and flee to port under cloak.

INVULNERABILITY is what we have now. INVISIBILITY is out of the game

if you remove the 20 second invulnerability timer you make it very easy for people to camp ports and attack people right when they pop out. If you make it impossible for them to enter a port once they are tagged....congratulations, you just brought spawn camping to Naval Action

Easy fix..... implement a 2-3 minute counter to Re-enter a port - that you just exited. This covers the invisibility cloak, and the invulnerability cloak as well. And establishes a real risk for those who choose to operate in enemy waters.

At present the only real risk, is if someone is coming around the bend, that they (attacker) did not see and could now jump in the battle (unless the inclusion circle is ON LAND: We had 3 of those yesterday - could NOT enter battle due to it). Otherwise, the OP player simply sits on the pier, and waits for a target, popping in and out of port under the cloak of invisibility. No risk.

-Yank

What Invisibility and Invulnerably cloaks? They vanished last week.

more people need to read patch notes....

Invisibility is gone.  Invulnerably is 30 seconds.  CANNOT enter existing battles is 2 minutes.

that being said, its still pretty easy to gank people from ports.  the second timer CANNOT enter existing battles should be 3 minutes.

Actually tonights patch should fix that,,., You will get dragged into fights that start After you spawn now if your 30 sec imer is up(if the patch works:)

Why 3 min? there is a 2 min timer on a battle and if you spawn after it starts you can't enter it period.. Except the new Capital zone defense battles hey never close. and a Port Battle since your in the port already you can join it as it should be(also tonights patch)

* Invisibility gone--- yes. Got that.

* Invulnerability -- for 20 sec... got it too. Not asking to remove that ...  just on the second time they exit within 30 minutes, they would have 20 seconds to RUN, and 2+minutes to avoid being tagged, before re-entering port!

* Spawn camping ... don't think so. I want those pier hugging Care bears to get away from the port entrance so they can be engaged.

    - And BTW "news flash",... that's exactly what these Care bears are doing (Spawn Camping) .. you cant leave the port in question if they are

there, as they will tag you, especially  if you are in a trader -- so that argument doesn't even come close to holding water!

* Spawn Ganking is what is currently happening.

With this suggestion, it would only make that player have to decide if they can safely conduct their attacks in a closely watched port. Hey, if they did not want that attention .. simply relocate!

But hey.. if I cannot CAMP my own dang waters ...where can I? ;)

I revised my suggestion above... see what you think.

@ Captvon gunn ... 3 min timer... Revised to 2 minutes... and it was to keep them in the OW, for that duration -- so they COULD be attacked. Otherwise they spawn out --- see a threat --re-enter..come back out 5 seconds later ... see the same threat ... re-enter ..repeat as often as you like. ..etc....etc.... This suggestion just makes it to where for a 30 minute time frame (after their first appearance to the OW) that any subsequent reappearances from that port should result in a cool-down period (2-3 minutes) before they could re-enter it... thus they could be engaged! Because prey tell .. they would get engaged with an enemy combatant looking for them! OMG -- the Horror!
