Capt Hornblower Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 he was in a Brit trader snow and had used the shallows S of PR near Pedro Cay. I had signaled him to heave to and surrender his ship and cargo or he would be sunk. naturally he kept running, even after a second and final warning. things is, both of us being Brit, me RN, would I have been able to attack? with this new feature, and not just making it possible for an enemy to enter an enemy's port without risk, smugglers SHOULD be attackable
OlavDeng2 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 With smuggler enabled, the person with it enabled can be attacked by anyone without any penelties to the attacker. 1
Bommel Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 he was in a Brit trader snow and had used the shallows S of PR near Pedro Cay. And your sentences are very hard to read and to understand. Did you try to attack him? Did it not work? Did he have the smuggler flag enabled (contraband found-tag)?
The Spud Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I think his question is if he could attack that player, or if smuggling is only meant for a player to enter an enemy player's port. So the answer would be, yes you can attack a teammate if he or she is smuggling (thus showing the "contraband goods detected" in red), and you wont turn pirate. Even if you do this wrong the game will tell you you will become pirate if you attack him. So it works the same as with a friendly AI trader who is also showing the "contraband goods detected" sign. I must add I would strongly advise not to attack teammate smugglers, however it is allowed in the game so nobody can stop you from doing that, but it will make people very angry. And it might end up with you getting a bit of a bad name. So be warned.
HardyKnox Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Are you writing about PvP only? We of the PvE persuasion are repeatedly assured that showing the Smugglers flag does NOT render us subject to attack by Player or NPC SHips. Please clarify.

Please clarify. this is for PVP, on the PVE server you cant be attacked by players no matter what 1
Capt Hornblower Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 this is for PVP, on the PVE server you cant be attacked by players no matter what well that just suxx. it was pve Bommel, it was part of the fun to hail him and chase him down. had contraband in red, or I wouldn't've given chase. there was a bit of a distance between us, and if I had had the time and if the shallows hadn't slowed me down, I might've had him, but it's all moot now, not being pvp
Capt Hornblower Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Didn´t know you are playing on PVE... yeah, but thought such player smugglers could be attacked
surfimp Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 yeah, but thought such player smugglers could be attacked Come to PVP1 and hunt all the smugglers you like!
Capt Hornblower Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Come to PVP1 and hunt all the smugglers you like! don't wanna lose my ship
surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 don't wanna lose my ship But you want to take other peoples' ships? Not how it works, homie!
Capt Hornblower Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 I've been toying with the idea, but thus far my Frigate, Surprise and Trincomolee are all undercrewed, but not by less than 75%
surfimp Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I've been toying with the idea, but thus far my Frigate, Surprise and Trincomolee are all undercrewed, but not by less than 75% But to catch a smuggler in a trader snow, those are complete overkill. You could use your own Fir-built Snow, with Crew Space in-built upgrade and (ideally) Speed, and you'd have no trouble catching any of the smaller trade vessels and making them a prize... plus being able to run away from whatever it was that wanted to catch you. And you'd of course be able to fully crew it, too.
