Please,

Can ye change where a small ship can escape instantly from battle whenever a larger friendly vessel enters combat?

Make it so that ALL ships have the exact same rules for disengaging battle.

  1. Just because a larger vessel joins, does not guarantee that the smaller vessel can escape, or even survive battle.
  2. The larger vessel may not necessarily be able to defeat the smaller vessel. (Pagan Pete often defeats much larger vessels.)
  3. The larger vessel may not be able to even REACH the battle between the two smaller vessels to enter the actual battle.

For those of ye requiring explanation;

---Begin Narrative---

When ye have carefully maneuvered into a perfect attack position, and ye are likely to capture that trader within a minute of battle. Ye are confident! ye are happy!  :D

Then a large warship turns up and joins when the battle timer is still counting down. He is a long way off, out of position and unable to help for several minutes because he has to sail up wind. The trader won't last that long! B)

battle starts, ye start heaving the sails up and order the guns to load and ye are only seconds away from boarding him.

POOF!!! The trader disappears before yer sails even start to rise...

How do you feel now??? You're not happy, you were robbed (of you robbing him)

---End Narrative---

Please, make it fair for all vessels and let the Captains's decide the outcome.

Pagan Pete

I thought this specific issue was fixed as of patch 9.8?

Guess not. Bummer. My understanding was that this BR ratio was calculated at the time the attack was initiated, and specifically *would not* be dynamically overridden by post-attack joins. I thought that was in fact what the patch notes indicated.

Maybe it's just not yet working right?

I reckon not… I were quite surprised when it happened. :o

Ahhh maybe I misread it - maybe that only happens after the battle countdown completes:

"System allowing a much stronger side to exit battle has been reworked. We now take into account only starting battle rating difference situation at the start of the battle (previously it was dynamic). The rest works as before. If you were attacked by a weaker force - stronger side could deny battle and exit during first 2 mins (this is a legacy feature somewhat reducing the effect of trolling by light ships)."
