Stormy weather is nice, realistic and very welcome from time to time and for short period.

Playing for 30 min in stormy weather it's not fun at all, makes me close naval action, and play other games, or post in this forum till the storm passes by.

Anyone agrees?

These extended storms seem to happen once a week for me ( prime game time at evenings western EU ). Hardly any effect other than - "oh, hurricane season ? must get to port fast."

But yeah I can understand what you are trying to say.

Storms where you could lose you ship and crew (yep all of them to buy over again).  if you sail well ahead of the storm and make it to port would add a video game reality to the game.   Also you could beach your ship and save 3/4 of the crew but you cargo is placed in a derelict ship like bottles and you can come back for it.  If others find it first you lose the cargo.

Can relate to being gruesome sometimes. Other time its saved my pirate bacon sneaking prizes through national patrols trying to recover their former friend's possession with the storm covering me, especially with a storm at night.

Thirty minute cycles might be too long.

Storms should (under circumstances) make you sail faster, not just slower.  That said, storms should also be more dangerous (damage to ship and crew).
