Destraex Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Was thinking of getting a 74 ship of the line nelson era model kit to build. I have no idea what to get but want something that is realistic and looks wooden rather than plastic. Any suggestions for brand or even specific kit?
Leviathan Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I've recently developed some interest in this as well. I would suggest signing up for a site such as modelshipworld.com and ask there. They could give some insight on good kits for new builders or based on your experience level.
Hyperion74 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 If you find one tell me about. I have not seen a kit of a British 74. Heller may have a french version but I am not sure. I am and have been a scale modeler and I do build plastic kits of wooden war ships. There arent a lot out there. You can try a wood kit, better detail and better selection, but thet are really spendy. I look a lot on E Bay. I just looked and they have some nice wood kits from Model Ship Ways and Latins. Of course, clever painting can look like wood.
