Catastrophy Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I've never seen it. People seem to usually go to the bitter end. Don't know if it's the disincentives or player mindset, so here's that: "Well done. And thanks for playing with me."
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Logging means surrender. That's why. Salute and always fight to the end. Obviously RL issues might interfere so a voluntary Surrender is okay as well.
BusterGut Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Not having had much opportunity to have many port battles (to junior) I did have one in my Surprise and the enemy were all 3rd rates and up and it was great fun trying to do more than fly swat damage to them, with the inevitability I got sunk, was good fun though just a bit sad that I was of not much assistance, just a mere irritant to the enemy LOL.
mikawa Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Ha that reminds me of my first port battle. I was in a cerberus and i didn't know how to free the mouse and change the position where I started, so I ended up being in the first position and behind me were nothing but Victorys and Santis. The first thing someone typed in chat was "please do not join port battles in a cerberus" :-)
mouse of war Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Surrender is fine, that's what 99% of ships would do in RL. Turning off survival is harder to justify. No crew (unless drunk) in a defeated ship would decide to die rather than surrender. No captain could order them to do so without causing a mutiny Surrender should be made the preferred choice for the winner and loser Turning off survival should simply not be an option.
