Tinfoyle Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 I have been playing for a few days now and in the open world I cannot attack anything. When I am within range I click the Attack button, the timer begins at 20 seconds and counts down. I can move within the circle anywhere and when the timer hits 0 the white circle blinks, then the timer starts over. Other players in the world are able to attack me, and they are seeing the timer reset also. I don't think I am doing anything incorrectly, the game refuses to let me attack in open world. I have submitted several f11 bug reports but do not have the information about a ticket number for this post. I have created an image album showing this problem: http://imgur.com/gallery/lVj5Z Here you can see that I am in the open, not near a capital, within range, and sick of this issue.
Balsafer Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Are you hitting the space bar repeatedly? Or on accident? That is the only way the timer will get reset.
Tinfoyle Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) Although I have tried using the spacebar to troubleshoot - I believe I have attemped matching target speed and clicking Attack once - then removing my hands from the keyboard and mouse and allowed the timer to count down from 20 to zero at least 20 times.I believe the issue is on the server/account.I have reinstalled, switched servers, made new characters and tried the x86 version. edit: phone spelling Edited May 13, 2016 by Tinfoyle
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Do you have any game controllers or other peripherals on your computer that may be sending clicks or other keystrokes unexpectedly?
Tinfoyle Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 Thank you for the response.I was curious myself if I was inputting any strange input that I did not know about- I do not have a controller or joystick, so none plugged in. I do have a Logitech G510 and G600 with many macros programmed for various programs and games. I am notified on my keyboard's LCD if any macros are running. I am not seeing anything there. I don't trust the LCD with notifying me about macros running so I installed 'ShowOff' and recorded my screen in OBS. Here is a link to a video a few passes on a 2 ship fleet with computer input shown in the white box at the bottom of the screen.: https://youtu.be/40k-50nV52Q I am not showing any stray input from any source. I tried various ranges and leaving and entering the attack area to reset the timer. In the video there was an f11 bug report that is roughly 10 minutes before the time of this post.
Tinfoyle Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 Also ran a connection test, hope this helps, the game has been mostly flawless so far. NAS-282580
Tinfoyle Posted May 15, 2016 Author Posted May 15, 2016 If anyone has any suggestions on things I can try, I would be more than happy to try them. Not being able to attack seems to be only affecting my computer/game/account, others I have asked are able to attack just fine.
Tomms123 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Do you have a character on another server where you have tried attacking something?
Ink Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Could you also test the game on other PC if there is such possibility?
Leviathan Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I don't know if this is related or not but on recent occasions some people have been able to see the crossed swords but they cannot click on them while others can. It hasn't happened to myself but i've been with others when it's happened. It seems like a random occurrence so i'm not sure what the common element or cause is.
Tinfoyle Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 Do you have a character on another server where you have tried attacking something? I have created a character on all servers and attempted open world combat - I managed to get into combat with a player twice in PVP1 - in both instances, someone else attacked me. I also managed to initiate combat with an NPC. Once another player initiated an attack, a circle formed in the open world, and I was able to click on a double-sword icon. From there I got a context menu that had a button to enter battle. I was able to enter the battle just like an Admiralty offer. I also managed to initiate combat with an NPC two times. I was on the PVE server, I had initiated combat and waited for the timer to complete several loops. I left the combat area and allowed the timer to tick to 0, then disappear altogether. I then re-engaged once I was within range, and the very second I clicked attack I was loading into the battle. I tried to reproduce the successful attack but I was only able to reproduce it one time on PVP2. Both times I had gone quite some distance from the same NPC while keeping it within visual range. Once I returned I was able to attack successfully, but there was no timer I was instantly loading the battle. Could you also test the game on other PC if there is such possibility? I have another PC - I accessed my work machine today and it was not meeting the minimum specifications for achieving more than 2 frames per second. I was unable to attempt combat. I have convinced my superiors and they will allow me to install a graphics card for a test after work hours. Expect a result in around 24 hours. I hope it is just my machine, but it feels odd being the only person to ever have this issue with relatively common hardware: Windows 10 upgraded from 8 Dual Monitors 8350 AMD GA78LMTUSB3 Gigabyte motherboard 8GB RAM (1333mhz) Nvidia GTX 760 Totally modest but meets requirements = getting 35-50 fps.

Captain, try to set Compatibility with Windows 7 on the both client.exe and client_,exe files (here \SteamApps\common\Naval Action)
Tinfoyle Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Good Evening, The test has been postponed on the other machine until tomorrow. A routine dentist appointment lead to an extraction and I was not at work today. Will perform the test on a second machine tomorrow.
