Jean Ribault Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Since there is a topic on "Rum", shouldn't there also be a topic on French Wine? (Of course) What are you other Captains loading up your holds with, and delivering to other ports, or drinking yourself before you get there? As for me, I'm drinking a fine red Burgundy Grand Cru, the Dujac Clos De La Roche. Trying to improve the taste of that Iberian Meat! If you can catch my trader on the way to La Mona, it would be a waste to sink me. Come aboard and let's have a drink of this instead!
Tief N Tote Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 what about cheese their should be a topic for that too to go with the wine 1
Jean Ribault Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Here ya go, extra aged manchego reserve, yum. One of my favs, great by itself, but goes great with that burgundy. What are you drinking? Edited May 12, 2016 by Jean Ribault 1

HardyKnox Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 There should be a item in the game for "American Whiskey" made from Corn (Rye or Maize) and aged in charred American Oak Barrels. Of course, if no whiskey tax has been paid, it will be subject to seizure by the U.S. Treasury Revenue Cutters patrolling off the coast of America. Here's the song sung by Gordon Lightfoot and friends, "Copper Kettle": Get you a copper kettle, get you a copper coilFill it with new made corn mashAnd never more you'll toil You'll just lay there by the juniperWhile the moon is brightWatch them jugs a filling in the pale moonlight Build you a fire with hickory, hickory, ash and oakDon't use no green or rotten woodThey'll get you by the smoke We'll just lay there by the juniperWhile the moon is brightWatch them jugs a filling in the pale moonlight My daddy, he made whiskeyMy granddaddy, he did tooWe ain't paid no whiskey tax since 1792 We'll just lay there by the juniperWhile the moon is brightWatch them jugs a filling in the pale moonlight In the pale moonlight SongwritersA.F. Jean Ribault Posted May 13, 2016 Author Posted May 13, 2016 Well now, chanced upon a lonely Dutch trader and decided to pull alongside for a friendly exchange Lo and behold what did I find in his hidden stores? None other than an 1811 Napolean....
Jean Ribault Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 (edited) OK, the forums seem to be very tense today. Therefore I have decided to unload a few cases of this fine french wine off of my LGV for us all to consume together at a free port and enjoy some merriment. NA Developers sorry none for you since you have to keep working, LOL. This is an expensive red burgundy, but God knows I have plenty of this in my warehouse and on my ships, since I've smuggled loads of it right underneath the Brits' noses so that it's not even funny anymore... The rules are simple: if you can pronounce it you can drink it! (2010 Comte de Vogue Musigny Vieilles Vignes) Edited May 25, 2016 by Jean Ribault
Jean Ribault Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 Looks like we need some more comradery again lately. So who will have a drink with me and this perfect smile? Searching through the holds of my exceptional LGV I found a white wine mix that will entertain us all and take the edge off. Come into the tavern, take a load off, and raise a few glasses. I'm more of a red wine fan, but this highly rated white, a mix of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon is still pleasing to even the most critical. It is bright and clear, and perfectly balanced with the right chill. Or just be a pirate and slug it down, there are plenty of bottles in the hold. We are drinking together in La Mona, by the way. No-gank timeframe for participants is 6:00 to 7:00 EST. This activity can only exist on PVP2; alas on PVP1 we understand that Ego Inocencio Botijo, Metropolitan Bishop of La Havana, and the Holy Catholic Church, forbids it there.
Lytse Pier Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Dutch cheese on Swedish knackebrot with some French wine and a good cold glass of Danish beer. Heaven.
Jean Ribault Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 Well then, you are still welcome at my table Captain. Cheers! And yes, I seem to have forgotten the cheese haven't I? 1
Hyperion74 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I'm not much for wine but I do think that cheese is a little bit of heaven. If there are any Europeans looking at this, tell me if ye can. Is cheese stupid expensive there like it is here. That manchego that Jean showed is like $10 an ounce where I live. That's some damme fine cheese though. This whole thread reminded me of a song. Heres the line. The song is "He went to Paris" written by Jimmy Buffett. But the warm summer breezes The French wine and cheeses Put his ambition at bay Summers and winters Scattered like splinters And four or five years slipped away 1
Jean Ribault Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) Tip of the day: $95 for a 7-lb wheel of that manchego online at igourmet. Edited June 16, 2016 by Jean Ribault
Æthlstan Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 The bottle of wine I bought in Paris when I was young
Jean Ribault Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) Bring it to the pvp2 Tavern in Plymouth Friday night, we're having another party. Even pirates are welcome, if they come and go in a trader. I'm bringing an LGV load of hemp too, gonna raffle it off in 750-unit groups. Edited June 21, 2016 by Jean Ribault 1
Villaret Joyeuse Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 You bring the wine and I will sneak over and borrow some Beer I'm sure the Danes wont mind indeed they can even bring there own providing there is some left let the party begin, Friday is way to far away, 1
Hyperion74 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Well, I'm bringing the grill and hot dogs. Dogs love cheese so that means that cheese goes good with hot dogs,
Jean Ribault Posted July 19, 2016 Author Posted July 19, 2016 (edited) Time to gear up for this weekend's celebration on PVP2 with an affordable French Bordeaux, a 2005 Chateau Larose-Trintaudon Haut-Medoc. It's a bold red blend of Cab and Merlot. We're moving to Tumbado, there's reportedly a lot of wine consumption there and the docks are full of taverns and back alley drunkards. Someone else will have to ship in the pork and beef rations, as my hold will be full. See you all there ....unless the pirates intercept the Traders Cutter full of it and this shipment can't be delivered. I hear Mr. Doomed is looking for me. Edited July 19, 2016 by Jean Ribault
Jean Ribault Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 They're known to be heavy drinkers in St. George's. Weekend's a great time to transport a fine French wine there to celebrate at the closest tavern. Happen to have a case of this exceptional Burgundy in the hold: 2014 Louis Jadot Batard Montrachet Gran Cru
