McFatts Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 As the title says, what do you guys think is in today's update. Is it the "big" update: I.e. Diplomacy, port battle, and crew replenishment changes?
SphinX Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 More likely to be a hotfix. Though it depends, did you see the message in game saying how long the server would be down for?
McFatts Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 More likely to be a hotfix. Though it depends, did you see the message in game saying how long the server would be down for? Negative. Just went to refresh and check on downtime (which always hits me in my prime gaming time, but such is life) and saw "update." Probably not the "big one" but I wonder what needed hot fixing?
SphinX Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I'm guessing it might be the start of the PB changes, no ships have been modified or added as far as I can tell, unless they were already 100% ready to be added.
Belize Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 update is 30mb...so it may be the minor patch that was announced at the begin of may with the 4th rate limit for normal deep water portbattles.

SphinX Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Having logged in and looked, all deep water ports seem to still be Mortar Brig to Santisima...
Jean Henry de Eden Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Crossing fingers : Ingermanland's BP can finally be looted. (pleaaaaase) 2
Sorrow Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Crossing fingers : Ingermanland's BP can finally be looted. (pleaaaaase) can confirm got one yesterday... oh wait a sec^^ but I think it was the port timer hotfix which made the port timers not changeable anymore until a port is captured again (as stated on april, 30th)
Kanay Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Crossing fingers : Ingermanland's BP can finally be looted. (pleaaaaase) If only they increased a bit the drop chances for this unicorn BP it will be a great thing, spending time, resources and money doing frigate after frigate is getting frustrating and depressing...
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 If only they increased a bit the drop chances for this unicorn BP it will be a great thing, spending time, resources and money doing frigate after frigate is getting frustrating and depressing... But quite nice for the market and for us frigate classes lovers. Your work and hard labour is highly appreciated.
Kanay Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 But quite nice for the market and for us frigate classes lovers. Your work and hard labour is highly appreciated. I bet many enjoy this yes, but having frigates gold sold between 100k and 150k is a shame, (when you see one at 100k on the shop you take 10% out for the fee and that's what the seller gets ). When you see what it takes to make them in materials cost and also time, starting from raw materials it's 2917 LH, means 70 Hours real time, means almost 3 entire days to make something that will brings you in terms of benefit what a single tiny easy mode missions of low level will bring in 15 minutes of time played, if you do any benefit at all ... or that a single mid grade note on the four you done for the ship could have been be sold for way more than the ship total sell price ... Last ships i done i was so frustrated to wait 3 days to do all crap needed and spend money in vain that i either broke them or sold them to Npc immediately without bothering to put them on shop and wait long days for one to sell for no profit like previous ones i put there, loosing money for loosing money i don't care anymore at this point ... The sad part is that while many of those useless ships are done there is a lack of diversity in more demanded and useful ships, if only each BP could drop from at least 2 ships but nope ...
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I get what you mean but also had to point out the positive outcome of it towards the rest. 2
Atreides Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 The positive outcome for the rest comes at a cost to the crafter. As it stands now it is a negative reinforcement system whereby you expend 3x or more to get a return of X in sunk cost calculations. People are loss averse, in pvp or port battle you have fun even if you lose. The RNG crap-shoot-a-thon means for many of us it is a lose/lose situation where we miiiiight see a return of one mid note back, there is no skill, no tactics, no planning, just blind luck and grind grind grind.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 It does not require skill. It requires investment to backup the RNG odds. Two different things. Plus 1 single BP is not the make or break of a crafters guild for sure. Regarding a solo trader/crafter yes, it might break it but given the present economy it surely won't, but then the system is tailored with social production chain envisioned. I would enjoy to see a complete different system relying on hiring shipbuilders, engineers, etc - in a system similar to Officers and Crew. These Naval Architects would be specialists and would bring their own plans for ships.
Jean Henry de Eden Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Plus 1 single BP is not the make or break of a crafters guild for sure. But the Ingermanland is such a beautiful ship! The only BP i dropped from level 29 to 34 vas trinco's, and i needed to craft a Belle Poule to get it, because no frigate craft dropped anything. I'll craft another frig today, hoping the curse is over. Another thing i'd like to see : no dead-end ships like the essex, cafting doesn't drop any BP, so nobody craft them, except on demand. 1
Chimera Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Its going to change at some Point. As I understood, BP and crafting system is a placeholder for a different mechanic coming some time in the future. Been crafting 3rd rates to get a bellona or 2nd rate BP for some time now and it's frustrating not to get it. It's keep in mind that "change" is coming ;-) we just don't know when. Back to the original topic: any news on what the patch is about? 1
victor Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Some said that the only change was that you cannot change the timers of the ports you own. But there must be something more, given the dimensions of the update.
Ned Loe Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 They said mid May for a nice patch. Just few more days I would assume. 1
McFatts Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 I love that this thread also turned into the search for the unicorn BP, they elusive Inger. Ah sigh.......maybe I should make some more frigs. Feeling lucky again.
Ned Loe Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Update for those who asked about server merge in past. Admin - We are now focused on merging servers, finishing some of the unfinished things from previous patch and multiple other cleaning things in preparation for alliances in the future. So, no alliances this patch. 2
Baron Von WeisenCracker Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 But the Ingermanland is such a beautiful ship! Funny you mention the Essex... I crafted my 2nd Frigate this morning. The 1st was a Basic, (no BP drops) to get up to level 29, to craft an Exceptional. But after wards - I crafted that Exp Frigate (2 hours ago) and the Essex BP dropped. This patch took 20 minutes for me today .. I am curious if the NOTES for it, were the ones posted up earlier? IF not, what was changed?
Baron Von WeisenCracker Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 the pb changes are minor, the patch itself is supposed to be content update Containing what?
