I am in an Indiaman. within 1/2 minute from capital and get ganked by 5 pirates. 4 friends are chasing pirates but cant get into 2 minute timer due to wind. I get ganked and lose over 12million worth in gold. Then..after realizing that they just ganked me and now have an exceptional Indiaman with over 50 high grade notes. they logged off and wait for the coast is clear..(which was not as there was over 20 friendly players waiting). Boring ..Boring. We lost 70% of players since this inception. 5 minute timers or I am quitting. And....now I do the same to the enemy. I await outside a capital in an extremely fast ship ..I can run from anything. I can now gank any trader without fear of reinfocements. Therefore..I upset other players and they quit. Endless cycle this game being ruined. Bring back the 5 minute timers...(I personally would like no Timers!)... I will continue to gank any trader outside your stupid capital knowing that no one can rescue them in 2minute. I have seen many games being ruined by those who want the rules changed as they don't lie PVP. Many games. 1

And if you were carrying such precious cargo why not just have your friends go with you and provide escort? This was easily avoidable, the only thing the 5 minute timer or no timer as you want will cause is more ganks and more uneven fights. With a 5 minute timer or a no timer this game moves away from true player skill, towards safety in numbers and the protection of a zerg. Just got hit by a pirate trincomalee in my frigate, no worries all of my friends in there 3rd rates can make it into the battle from the city. If you are scared to lose your ship or your cargo then just plan ahead and sail together, as long as you guys are in sight of each-other there should be no problems getting into the battle. Edit: and if you are a solo player not able to hang around friends this game provides you with the ability to get away most of the time, it just requires some situational awareness on your part and the majority of ganks can be avoidable.

Mamen Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 First of all Im not following every post in that matter so appologize if something was mentioned or there are like tons of same topics (I found this one as some of the latest and "busy") I would extend 2 minutes battle entry to 5 minutes with penalty of distance: If you are within certain range of your port penalty would not be applied If you are out of range of your port then after 2 minutes you would spawn: - 3rd minute to closest enemy 500 meters - 4th minute 1km to closest enemy - 5th minute 1,5 km to closest enemy

And this too. Battle timers have no relevance to this gameplay style.
Mrdoomed Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Something to keep in mind now is with the no cooldown teleports and a 5 minute timer it has very real potential of ever 1v1 attack becomming a 1vs25 pretty quick considering most players now never venture outa sight of a port. I think 2 minites is to short but 5 minutes with teleports is to long or at least will.further remove piracy /privateer players from the game. I can thinknof a few good solutions but untill the figure out a way to acually get players back into the open world and away from thier capitals it really seems moot to me.
